I completed a massacre mission for some pirates, went back to the marked station (in blue). There's a little exclamation point by missions indicating I can turn in or there's some activity, but the agent is not listed anymore nor are those turn in markers by anyone else's name. Since I'm new and don't know much I assume it's not a bug and there's something fundamental I don't understand. I only have combat missions so in my log so there's no delivery funny business I'm screwing up. What am I missing?

Sometimes factions retreat from systems - in which case they are no longer listed and you are out of luck. You can confirm the faction you were working for in the mission details in the transaction tab.
Wow, that's very unfortunate since the reward is a good chunk for me. I do have a 4-5 others (6-15M) running concurrently so I'm sure I'll be all good shortly (not from the same faction, the non-stacking from the same faction is also, like other mechanics, something I only stumble across it causes me trouble).
