Mission Board Problems

Hey CMDRs,

I may have a Problem here:
When I try to access the Mission Board and go to "all Missions" it loads for about 30 seconds and then shows me a message, as seen below
Screenshot 2024-11-10 224121.png

afterwards it's loading forever... I have to press Esc and exit the Game to do anything else...

When I try to access "Combat Missions", it loads about the same time and afterwards i get this message:

Then i can see something like 2 to 3 Missions, but nothing like the 25 as it was shown on the overview.
I've tried a few things until now:
  • Reinstalling the Game,
  • opening one of my ports on my Router and change the Networking Settings to the Port
  • Changing the Firewall Settings, so Elite can access the Internet (even if it could do so before and i can access the Game, just not the Mission Board)
  • Tried to contact Frontier Support and didn't get answers for the past week.
Now I hope i can get help here. If you need further Information, please feel free to ask.
And thank you very much for the help!

Jammer

It's an online game. Sometimes the servers are just dead or unreachable.
first of all. Thanks for the quick answer!
To the point: Yeah, and that wouldn't surprise me. But it's for a whole week? And my Buddy living in the same City as me can access the Mission Board just fine.
So i thought i could rule that Problem out..?

suggestions
skip that nasty wifi and connect to router direct using a cat 6 cable
switch to a static ip adress
follow the tips & tricks in here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...imizing-multiplayer-connection-issues.583861/
check in the in game network settings your using the correct adapter
try a vpn
good luck

thank you for the answer!
The Adapter is set to Ethernet, IP Address is set to static, and i don't have wifi on my desktop, so that's that.
i will check in the guide, act accordingly and get back here with an update when i find the time.
VPN sounds interesting, won't that increase the ping a lot?

it might but it may also find an alternate quicker less noisy route to the server possibly
the other thing you could try is an ip tracer route to see if theres a data bottle neck jamming things up

the game is mostly peer to peer else it uses small short data bursts to update things such as mission boards via amazon ecs web sevices relays
slow to populate ticks or even worse a stop sign here may indicate a bad route to your location http://ec2-reachability.amazonaws.com/

the head end is in ireland which fd update from there offices in cambridge https://www.ip-tracker.org/lookup.php?ip=Elitedangerous.com

Hey,

sorry for the late reply.
Screenshot 2024-11-13 161412.png
this is the tracert to 52.211.240.116.
The Amazon game server Status seems ok, on the links you provided.

I tried to tracert from my workplace too. Conclusion: a timeout at the same ip 72.21.221.74
my conclusion would be: the server blocks icmp packages (pings also get a timeout).
I'm getting really confused by now and the frontier support seems to ignore me... Sadge...

VPN gave me the same result with the Mission Board.

yea tools can tell. us theres a problem but seldom actually fix it
i think you need to contact support via a ticket
have you sent one via clicking submit eg here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-cant-log-in-or-access-an-access-code.628578/
as if you correctly submit a ticket they do always answer first with a auto e mail response to say message received then after day or so a reply proper.............
though it may be you need to contact your isp too i assume you have temp disabled anti virus and firewall to test and reset router?
and have you tried ip version 4 too
also try opening old internet explorer 11(type in start search menu) and reset all settings there to default and use that to submit the support ticket
i also assume you have tried misson boards at least a 200 ly from your current location as may be its a server blade at fault
other than that i am out of ammo regarding this and bid you good luck o7

Since you have a buddy that plays you can try some fun experiments. Take your setup to your buds and see if you still have an issue. If you don't that'll be illuminating.

I got the response email. But no actual help.
I didn't check actively with a distance of 200 LY. But i travelled a fair bit since.
the thread you posted is known to me.
the whole thingy runs over ipv4.

Thank you so much still, for trying to help!
I learned a lot, at least that is good news ;)

might be a good idea, but the PC i normally play on has a custom watercooled setup inside.
To move that is way too much for me, especially without a car :D

I think I may be lucky. I've been playing over WiFi for ages without issue - I do want a CAT6 connection via ethernet though but that means drilling holes, trunking, running cables outside etc. etc. Mrs. Tyres wants none of it :D
