Mission Boards: Situation Normal

I logged on tonight to do some nice trading in my Python. 200+ tons of cargo space for the mission board to allocate me.

In multiple systems, in multiple system states, I got:

Disable The MegaShip Turrets!

Planetary Scan Job!

Wetwork!

Not one haulage or courier mission.

I didn't relog, I simply flew to another system each time. Every system had 5+ factions offering the same jobs.

I would appreciate another clear statement, one that says that Frontier will not consider changing /fixing the mission boards. Lots of players would love that. :)

They really need to have a core suite of basic missions for all careers that are not hinged to the bgs. 4 billion people and no one needs "haul x to y". That's ridiculous on its face. I really feel that this game is bait and switch in that regard. You can be whatever you want to be in this sandbox has definitely changed to messaging around playing the bgs.

I don't belong to a pmf (because recruiting 10+ people, setting up a pmf thread, and waiting for approval is worse than going to the dentist), and my multiplayer time is limited to hanging out with a few friends on an occasional basis. I'm sure I'm not alone in in this playstyle.

If FDEV really wanted to expand the player base, they'd actually serve the population of casuals and provide accessible mission gameplay at all stations.

But, getting what you want in this game is about being in a group of a sycophantic cool kids, and not a lone commander plying his or her trade.

It seems that the only thing blazing on my trail is my empennage.

The start point for many players is the mission boards. It should support all gameplay options.

Or, at least toss the occasional bone to the casual player.

Or maybe they could just make the galaxy make sense instead of being completely random? Surely pirate hunting would be more likely at the edge of civilisation where the law is questionable? Only factions at the NW edge of the bubble would be likely to have business in Colonia? Bread and butter (and totally safe) trade missions in the core? But that would require a BGS that made sense.

Just look for a system in Outbreak and you will find lots of missions to provide medicines of all kinds. Very well paid once you are allied.

Mentioned this a week or two ago, having spent my Exploration income on a nicely kitted out T10 so I could work on Trade, all I could find on the mission board was Assassinate so and so, disable the Megaship, illegal scan operations or mega delivery projects of several 1000 units designed for group play. There was the odd worthless 30k courier mission but no middle of the road haulage tasks of a couple of hundred items that would fit in my cargo hold. Yes, I know you can use EDDB to find profitable "loose" cargo runs, but that only gives profit not materials or rank that you get from actual missions.

I did find some success on the Passenger board and as a result tipped out one of my cargo holds for a basic passenger cabin, but even then a lot of the requests are stupid sightseeing tours which take a while and don't add to your trade rank.

Definitely needs a rebalance back in favour of the single player game and to cater for all categories of player.

Yeah, I'm sitting in an Extraction Economy that always used to have Haulage Missions in the past.

But now? If the Faction isn't in sole State : Normal or Boom .... nothing, no Cargo Missions. Typically not a single one.
In my case, Expansion seems to sabotage those Haulage Missions. And for some reason, ~50% of all Missions are illegal on top. Expansions are a criminal event it seems lol

I >can< do useless and underpaid Wing Fetch Missions though. 5000-10000 tons that'll take all day, for lousy pay.
Or do what everyone does when it comes to Credits - go core mining again :p

With the bubble being ~400 LY across, and the bubble-Colonia distance being ~22,000 LY, it seems unlikely that position within the bubble would make a lot of difference to their relationships.

For the rest of it a lot of the problem is that the bubble doesn't have that much of a gradient to it in terms of security and safety - there is a slight tendency for higher security systems to be towards the centre of it, and lower security, lower population ones on the fringes, but mainly it's about whether the systems are terraformable and/or minable and therefore what their original population and economy were. (With a bit of overlap from the security increases and decreases from Powerplay, of course)

With the FSD, that's perhaps even "realistic" - no two stations in the bubble are much more than an hour apart, and most are much closer, and there's no strong borders between anywhere (political or geographic). The bubble is more like a large 21st city than anything else - there might be bits you don't go after dark, but they're going to be scattered through it based on historical accident, not all surrounding the rest of the city in a ring.

Manhattan is next to Bronx. In every bigger city you have dangerous hotspots. You don't have to travel to the countryside, which actually has lower crime rate.

Our controlled systems are all anarchy (well, pirates... ok) few ones (colony) provide smuggle/slave delivery missions, the bulk is made of planet base attack/scan/disable. Overall we are seeing a drop in cargo ones, data missions are much harder to stack because they're spreaded out in a number of system.

Ah, yeh I'd like to have a filter to set "target system / base" and get all the missions toward that system / base across all the factions...

There a reason I've been staying in and around Tepertsi for three years now. Systems here never seem to be in anything other than Boom and Civil War. Boom: imperial slave missions are a dime a dozen and pay very well. Civil War--weapons become the fun things factions want to move, and they also pay well.

Occasionally they dry up for a week or two, but generally it's been pretty solid for some time.

I'm in Colonia with my main account, and until recently there have been haulage missions. I'm friendly or better with almost every faction. So, those missions are not being denied- they are simply not there.

My alt account has the same issues.

This is not the FSS debate. The mission boards, and the BGS have had problems since I started playing in December 2014.

I have a dedicated mining ship, so I could limit myself to that mode of gameplay. But it seems Frontier are whittling down on my options.

Thing is, credits are not my main concern - getting Materials for engineering is. With only perhaps an hour or two to play each day, Wing Missions are only do-able as a lone player if you can finish in 4 or 5 round trips (i.e. around 2000 units one jump away). The material rewards for so called "Wing" missions are also much better - the one I managed to complete gave me 3 x G5 materials. The single trips or pax missions only generally give up to G2.

I have no interest in playing in a wing, or as a group or even outside Solo, so please tailor the mission board for the many of us who also share that view.

H'mmm, not here, not tonight. Back to the usual assorted selection of kill missions, illegal scans or passenger missions where the destination is 50k ls from the insertion point.

Someone kicked the servers.

I'm getting haulage and courier missions, now.

Thanks, Adam! :)

I hope somebody kicked it. Hauling/fetching/passenger missions in and around my main base have really dried up the past week or two. Kick it again please. GL HF
