Horizons Mission Bonus times

Unsure where to post this as im not really a forum person but i have a major gripe.

I dont mind not earning much from missions. I love the variation of missions by throwing spanners in the works with mission changes.... but the current implementation of it sucks. sucks to the point id rather not get these variations or bonuses. seriously, i dont want them.

Before i upgraded to 'Horizons' id get plenty of 'extra credit if you deliver by' variations, sometimes up front, and other times i just seemed to be getting paid more than what i agreed to do the job for. The timing was pretty much always 'within the next 24 hours' - the way i play means thats a pretty damn easy bonus to get, so its mildly pointless, but others might go a lot further with a lot more cargo, and a lot more accepted work so it might be pushing it.

Whats thoroughly ing me off tho, is accepting a mission, jumping into a star system, and getting a mission critical message telling me i have - 2:00 to get from the systems star, to a platform or planet 5 minutes flight away, or 30 seconds (seriously, mission counter has been coming up as - 0H0M remaining) from jumping into the vicinity of a planet/station) and then getting an update literally as im touching the pad saying my contact is disappointed i couldnt make their 50,000 credit delivery within 30 seconds.

Tried to ignore this but its now become _every_ mission i do, im getting hit with constant updates that mean squat, as there is no way to actually pass the bonus part of the mission now. I dont want to be offered them.

It has also affected the missions being changed - Ive now got a 100,000 fine as i accepted a mission that was i think maybe 12 ly from where i accepted it (2 jumps) plus pirates being sent after me for it, only to recieve an update as im touching down to deliver it, that the location had changed to some 25 light years in the other direction to where i was heading, away from 3 other missions i accepted going to the same system. Nope. Not doing it. But of course 'abandoning' mission (because if i wanted to go well out of the way, i would have, and i can tell you straight up, if this was real life.... id be telling my contact to pay the f up as the contract WAS completed or ill give his preciouses to the vaccuum..... and if i really want to be technical and apply it to real life.... if i drove a truck loaded with stuff and delivered it where i was told only for the dude to ring me up and tell me its going 3 times further... under our laws i can tell him to cough up more money or come and pick it up from where ive delivered it to themselves. Not cool. Mission was abandoned, theres no way to just leave cargo, so ultimately i have to 'sell a load of stolen cargo' which i neither want to sell, nor did i have any intention of stealing.... i delivered it as per agreement.

Also, i would expect that if im given a mission, then even if ive never explored the system, then the mission target should at the very least automatically appear. It absolutely makes sense to me (and is very cool) that if you randomly jump somewhere youve never been, you only see 1 sun and a bunch of unexplored stuff..... but someone telling you to go to 'Redneck Station - Kentucky System' should be also saying to you 'Its right here bud, definantly exists, and my mate lives there... rather than 'Im sending you off with 1,000,000 worth of cargo... to some place called... i think... redneck station... which apparently is around that place over there but im not sure... just fly around and see if you can find it'

Anyway... theyre my major gripes, (still having combat issues) i do love the game... but those things are really really irritating.

PS Frontier - Can you make it so that i can click my left thumb stick on my game pad to switch between roll and yaw.... none of the current options are intuitive and i seem to end up rolling 'around' a target without being able to roll 'onto' it if you now what i mean.

Thanks.

seriously, mission counter has been coming up as - 0H0M remaining

It's a known issue, and will hopefully be fixed in 2.2. It has become a bit of a joke (SC right into the mail slot). Depending on the station, and where you are when you get the message, it is actually possible to still claim the bonus.

Don't worry about it to much. We all had a gripe about it lately. 90% of the time you don't get the bonus.
As Mercury7 and others have said, hopefully it will be fixed.

Yes, what you get is a message to complete the mission in 0H00M, which really means you have 59 seconds, so great is their confidence in your piloting abilities.

Then of course, you fail to complete the mission impossible and they tell you how disappointed they are in you and how you have let them down; for the rest of the trip you are made to feel like a numpty.

Then you deliver your mission material and they tell you what a hero you are and how it is pilots like you .... etc.

All rather silly, and you just have to laugh at it .... and believe it will be fixed soon

Yeah, they should just get rid of or severely limit these. You didn't need it for 3 days before I took the mission, but as soon as I jump into the destination system, you need it in 30 seconds? Really?

Thanks guys, glad to know im not alone. I struggle with these things because yeah, i can be a bit of a whinger.... but i do my best to make sure it really is ME and not software first.

But it goes back to this - No dev should be spending a single second on paid aesthetic DLC (paint jobs, spoilers, bobbleheads) while pretty basic and integral stuff is iffy. But thats just my humble onion.

"Oh yeah by the way, we dont want this illegal cargo here now. Youre gonna have to head 5 jumps away K? We will pay extra for it!" - No. Its staying here, or it ends up in the vacuum. (Another thing that needs to be looked at... either the ability to deliver to the original location for the original contract value, or NOT having cargo being refused at the original station being marked as 'Stolen' because youve told the pain in the butt customer to jam it. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS CARGO YOUVE BOUGHT YOURSELF RATHER THAN GIVEN AS PART OF THE CONTRACT) - Hey, even cooler would be being able to say no, then having the whiner have a cry about how they cant get it to where they now need it...

How about re-negotiable contracts? "Nah, you want it further away, you can pay me X extra for it, or you can find another patsy" A metric in the way of player level + time since contract offered + cost demanded within some percentage above the initial agreed contract - Kind of like the customer either being awed by the elite commander doing the delivery, or being extremely desperate for the items making them more likely to accept a demand within +X% of the original contract price, vs "Man i aint paying that, no, drop it off, ill get someone else/Yeah nah its not really that important." - I guess like the whole 'charisma/barter/merchant' thing in the ol RPGs
