Mission difficulty 3

Seems rather hard. 6 - 8 ships against one. I play only solo, no engineering, worth speaking of, so group quests are out of the question (don't know why there is group quests in solo anyway).
How do you manage/deal with them?

I assume you refer to massacre missions? Not much to do except the classic "git gud". Come prepared, shoot them all a lot until they are dead, or run. If it is the one with a single Conda as mission target where a plethora of ships jump in as soon as you attack: Ram the Anaconda down first, deliver your final blows, and then get the hell out.

Also: Come well prepared, and don't fly a paper ship 🤷‍♂️ . Not much else to do.

Keep at it and eventually you'll be able to do level 6-8 hunt infamous pirates that are meant for a wing but do it by yourself.

No, just normal missions. No skull or group quests.

For those kill x pirates massacre missions, try and take them where the targets are in a system that has res sites, and to avoid being overwhelmed go for low, med or high rather than hazardous. The mission targets will spawn at the res and you can take them on one at a time, potentially with the help of system authority ships. Avoid attacking a target that's part of a wing unless you have some back up as then it's wing mates will also attack you.

In the mission spawned signal sources the ships now all turn on you when you attack and it's tough to take on multiple ships at once.

The wing variant of that mission type just requires you to kill more targets, they aren't necessarily harder.

I do that too, but the difficulty with the non-hazardous res sites is that mission targets can be few and far between, and often the cops kill them way too fast. So if I do any of those pirate massacre missions, I go for hazardous res sites first unless mission signal sources are really close by or the HazRes sites are devoid of mission targets for some reason.

To be honest, I'm not sure it's hazardous. Where do I see that?

This is what I see.

Anyone see hazardous?

hazardous
It's not a written thing, but if there are hazardous resource extraction sites in the system you are doing the mission in, then you can use those to meet your quota as you will find the faction you are hunting often turns up there to do piracy. The other option, if you're not well equipped, is tier 1 and 2 "weapons fire" signal sources.

The first time I dropped into one of those mission signal source where 6 or 7 ships immediately went hostile on me, my shields went down in a few seconds (hull reinforcements meant I didn't) so I turned and burned, waited for the shields to regen, and slowed to take a few out as I retreated. Two or three catch up at a time, but at 10km (or maybe 20) all of them suddenly lose interest, and you can go back and pick out a couple of stragglers before they wake out.

Yes, I usually do hazardous also, but since the OP seemed to be having a bit of a challenge I'm just proposing what I would suggest is the 'easier' way in. I'm sure they will soon be mopping up the pirates with ease. :) I find that if the mission targets don't seem to be spawning then just pop to supercruise to change the instance and when you return to the res site they will start spawning again.

OP. Your pictures show the mission details. Because it's a mission, signal sources will spawn for you (from memory these are labelled mission target with a threat level) that are specific to the mission which contain a bunch of mission targets who, as you have found out, will all attack you as soon as you shoot one of them, these signal sources are not the same as resource extraction sites which you will find in the rings of gas giants. Resource extraction sites come in various flavors, and when you target them you will see what level they are. The main difference is that hazardous ones have no system authority ships present so you are on your own. Res sites are permanent in a system, hence why I suggest that you figure out which systems that missions are targeting have them (they will need a ringed gas giant and then you can check out the system and see whether res sites are there), and then choose missions to those systems.

With these missions, the difficulty (rank) of the mission targets is determined by the mission rank / threat.

Yeah, I just wanted to mention it to prevent even more frustration when "the cops kill my mission targets before I can get to them" ;). Also, last time I did was before SCO, and usually I just couldn't be bothered to zapp around thousands of Ls for a few targets, so I also usually re-instance a HazRes when it dries up.

Yes, no problem. The mission signal sources always spawn thousands of light seconds from each other, and it's relatively new behavior, perhaps more realistic that the whole signal source goes hostile on you, previously they'd all fly around aimlessly waiting to be attacked. When I got my Python Mk II I specifically decided to use those signal sources and was rudely awakened to find myself ganged up on... It's not the best shielded ship.

So now I'm back to res sites where I can choose my targets and only take on a wing if I feel it's manageable. :)
