Mission Frustrations (Passenger and otherwise)

Ok, this drives me absolutely crazy...

Please, remove the "different destination" from passenger missions. It is absolutely infuriating to try to fill a ship with passengers going to the same area, then after an hour of gathering passengers to deliver, they all randomly decide they want to go somewhere else.

Like, REALLY frontier?! How often do you buy a plane ticket, or a bus ticket from Dallas to New York, then half way there say, "Actually, take me to Seattle instead" and if you don't, I'm not paying you.

The whole concept is ludicrous. If the passenger offers a BONUS to be taken elsewhere, that's fine, but the original contract should not be contingent on the passenger's whim.

Beyond just passenger missions--This is a frustration I have with all sorts of missions. When I select a mission, I get a nice detailed sheet telling me what I'm signing up for. Great. Now stick to it. Don't tell me to collect x in system y, then when I get to system y, have a message that tells me ACTUALLLLYYYY, I need to travel to system z, to find out more about some other random thing that after jumping through an annoying series of hoops, will finally lead me to collecting x...

Just give us the respect of providing the mission information, and sticking to it. If you want to add variety, fine--do it in the form of "Bonus x if you do y" i.e "If you are interested in some additional credits, go to system x to find out more" Cool. But don't change the deal half way through.

Thanks....:)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're talking about, but if I'm not... You can always refuse the new destination. That fix was only implemented in 2.2, mind you, but it's an option still, in the message window you get with the now destination proposition..

Hmmm. I noticed recently that I get a lot of these notifications. When I hit refuse, the mission said failed. I just assumed this was the culprit (perhaps because it use to be?).

I'm encouraged to know that they are indeed, optional, and I am not decreasing my passengers satisfaction by refusing said detours.

It certainly shouldn't cause a mission to fail. In fact, I think I'm correct in saying that passenger mission change of destinations and the like were always optional, and FD changed all other mission update changes to be optional too (in 2.3 I think).

As it's optional, it shouldn't decrease a passenger's satisfaction enough to have an impact on the mission. Perhaps something else caused that mission to fail... A scan?

There really needs to be better qualifiers for these sort of optional diversions. As I often prefer transport Business Class Passengers -- I've seen an inordinate amount of requests for either a liquor run or my personal favourite: stop by the nav beacon because I want to see Thargoids.

This isn't a taxi in a gravity well, this is a ship that's running precise missions based on the Commander's requirements. Me. Not some bossy passenger thinking I'm an Uber/Lyft/Cabbie.
