Mission help required

I have accepted a surface mission to find a smugglers' hideout and steal an item

I have located the planet where I need to go but I cannot find the hideout.

I have tried everything: scanned the Nav Beacon, used the D-scanner and Surface Scanner (even got an efficiency bonus!) but the hideout doesn't show

I have even manually searched by flying about 300km over the planet's surface.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm having the same issue. No such place exists, and did the DSS.

After you do the DSS it should be in your left-side menu listed under the planet. Right now EVERY planet in the galaxy has a short list of sites. Look for Artificial Structure (Threat x). The threat x part 1-5, is the most important part because that tells you is an odyssey site.

I'm pretty sure you don't even need the dss for mission poi's, they just show up blue when you get close.

Had the same issue, these smuggler's hideouts don't exist.

They just hid it very well, you need a shovel and a pickaxe. To get a shovel and a pickaxe you have to wait until Frontier releases the "Shovel and Pickaxe"- DLC.

Surface excavation missions would be great, particularly xenoarcheology-style ones. I can dream.

this must have been a change recently. Usually when you approach the planet, you will see the location in the nav panel. I just did a mission like that Saturday night.
