So, my first idea in oooh, maybe a week!
Did you miss me? Probably not.
Anyhow, straight to the point, during a discussion on material drop rates, i suggested an idea that a few people liked.
So here is the official idea.
Mission Negotiations
When viewing a mission, you have 3 button, Accept, Decline and Open In Map.
If you were to add a fourth button, Negotiate, we could begin some very basic interaction with NPC's.
So, when you press negotiate, you get a new window, with some dialogue from your mission rep, asking you, what you would like to change about your mission reward(s).
Each option given has 1 positive effect on the main choice, and the rest is negative. All options cost a bit of rep, except the first.
Your first option, which is available at all levels of reputation is;
Work For Free. This option declines all forms of payment; credits, materials and cargo. But gives you a much higher reputation boost on completion.
The second option, which requires Friendly, is Increase Pay. This option increases the amount your mission will pay in credits, but you get no materials, cargo, and no rep increase for completion. Your payout increase will be based on RNG + your reputation, but is generally between +10% and 25%.
The third option is Increase Material Payout, this requires Allied status. This option will increase the materials given, but greatly reduces the credit payout, and removes any cargo rewards, and you gain no reputation on completion. The amount you gain in materials is RNG based on the material(s) grade(s) but is generally between 2-8 times the original amount.
The fourth option, is Increase Cargo Reward, this also requires Allied status. This can double or triple the cargo rewards, at the cost of greatly reduced pay, no materials and no rep increase on completion.
Some options may not be available if the mission wasn't offering that particular reward to begin with.
The last part of my idea, is off topic.
But basically add all of the non-buyable commodities to the loot tables of hauler type vessels, as well as potential finds at crash sites on the surface, and wrecks in signal sources. This would greatly help with things like Modular Terminals, which can then be gained from 3 different methods(missions, piracy, land/space salvage), instead of 1. It would also be beneficial if the Engineers began requiring commodities again.
Thanks for reading!
