Mission Objective Detected?

Hi.

Tried searching, found no similar threads, so here's my question.

I've been RES farming lately and for the past week have been frequently receiving "Mission Objective Detected" alerts on the way to/from the ring. I target the USS and it shows in the red colored "Mission Objective".

Is this a bug, or something else entirely I've never encountered before? I've not dropped out of SC into any of them, but they're all Threat 0. I have no open or pending missions anywhere.

Thanks.

It could be a trading vessel that sometimes offer you missions to deliver goods at some station. No danger, especially as it's labeled Thread 0.

Well, if you don't actually have any missions then this is surely a bug. Have you got any missions in your Inbox (i.e. those that are offered outside the mission boards)? I wonder if one of those could trigger this.

I have experienced this recently as well while playing on Xbox. I had no active missions and was taken quite by surprise when this came up. Naturally I had to turn around and investigate the signal source. When I dropped in there was T-9 sitting there... The odd thing is he wanted me to "purchase specific cargo" at station; lets just say it was fish since I can't remember, and deliver it to another system. It was like a Boom Time Delivery Mission, but also a Source and Return mission mixed together.

It was like a source and return because I had to find and purchase said cargo, then deliver it to the station. However, it was like a boom time delivery mission because I didn't bring it back to him, I had to take the cargo to a station in another system.

That's interesting - a spontaneous mission. I do have a few of the emailed missions in the inbox I've been ignoring. I'll try deleting them with the "X" and seeing if the Objectives return.

I will say though that I like the idea of this type of spontaneous mission spawning. I'm not up for it now as my combat ship has no cargo racks, but it's an interesting idea to make the universe seem more alive.

Thanks.

I always get two of these as I approach my home system station. Both always contain black boxes and random mats. Seems like a bug to me, or maybe one of those 'strange new things' mentioned in patch notes.
Defo not related to missions though. Another thing I get are random mission offers while hunting in high res sites. Go figure.

They can be trade ships offering transport missions, too. Back in the day, there used to be a trade ship in some USS that was offering high prices for certain goods. I think it replaced that.

Those definitely spontaneous mission offerings. When you drop into one of them, and get close to the idle ship in it, you will get a message in your mailbox with a mission offer. These have been happening for quite some time, though they got more frequent with 2.4

They always used to show up as just standard signal sources, though, didn't they (no mention of mission objective)? Maybe it has been changed to try to encourage people to try them. I'll keep an eye out, anyway - sounds like it could be interesting. :)

There's a few missions you get in the game that you didn't volunteer for, so mission targets pop up out of nowhere. You have to check your comms panel for every message to know when your involved with them, which is a bit of a bind. I think there's two many messages coming in all the time and it would be better if these ones were differentiated with a separate message somehow.
