Mission payouts

Not a rant, just an observation from a long time beta tester. Unfortunately missed the Guardians testing period, have been away from ED for a couple of months.

As most people on the forum have noticed, freighter and various mission payouts are terrible, pax missions seem to be pay ok inside the bubble.

My question is why do the devs change payouts in Beta? As far back as I can remember the payouts would be different on the Beta server, we would have no way of knowing the true mission costs until the update went live.

How are we supposed to test and give feedback on mission board payouts if we don't have an accurate reflection of what we will get on the live server?

My understanding is the devs will adjust payouts in an update, the whole thing could have been avoided if we actually had the planned live payouts.

I understand the need to reduce ship/module prices for testing. No idea why mission board payouts are also changed.

They want everyone to be able to test as many features as possible, but I've never understood why they don't leave all the costs alone and just give the beta backers a squillion credits each with the option to reject them if you want to test under "real world" conditions. There used to be an argument that everyone would just buy the biggest ship possible and nothing else would get tested, but many beta backers are now so rich that they can afford to do that anyway.

The switch back from cheap beta prices to full regular prices always results in a couple of rounds of tweaking after launch. It's as though FD enjoy making extra work for themselves.

I think we actually did have standard mission pay-outs, this time.
I mean, the passenger missions were balanced back and forth but the old templates were the same.
So it's not like it was failed beta-testing.

The current state of things is just some coding hiccup, arguably tied to Sothis/Ceos adjustments (unconfirmed speculation)

Because they'd then be likely to forget something somewhere and end up giving a squillion credits to each player on the live servers. ;)

The missions payouts are low because they want us to do passenger hauling, ofcourse it will be temporary, maybe want some more testing on how new passenger stuff is doing...

Its not really working as intended at the Moment.

It's funny, people keep posting this, yet several near-game-breaking bugs made it into the final release (and even some that were reported as fixed). It's becoming clear to me that Frontier are either A) Absolutely terrible at fixing bugs/testing bugfixes, or B) Lie a lot about fixing bugs.

The mission payouts are low because of a miscalculation, they have stated it will be investigated and fixed. It has nothing to do with testing pax missions.

@Obnoxious_Gamer - I appreciate there is a lot of typical forum hyperbole/emotion in your comment so I won't take it too seriously. Personally I wouldn't be so hard on the devs, bug fixing is not an easy process. Calling devs liars or terrible at their job is better suited for the GTA or Call of duty forums..

The point of my Op was to gain some knowledge on why the devs can't give us correct pricing during testing, it would make things easier for everybody in the testing phase.

Chris Simon says the latest testing prices were accurate, not sure how many people were actually aware of that, it's not how the devs have done things in the past. Most beta testers will say to anyone complaining about prices or potential nerfs - 'This is Beta, wait till it's live to get accurate mission payouts'

Following this argument, where are my "finding Painite is such a pain" missions that used to pay 10 times over the galactic average.
