Mission Payouts

So i recently played odyssey again after a long break. When i went to check for missions they still all payed around the 200k mark. Which is way to low to be worth it in my opinion. Is this because im still low rank with the new on foot stuff or are the missions really just a waste of time?

Odyssey on-foot missions are usually paying very low - they do seem to increase with status (allied) but not by much.
I dont recall seeing missions paying more than 500-600k credits
However i have not tested missions post U11 (they introduced a new mission type, at least one)

Ship missions do increase quite a lot with both rank (Entrepreneur+/Dangerous+) and status (Allied)

alright thank you, yeah i am elite in trading and allied at the faction, the ship missions pay a lot which is why i found it so weird to see the payouts for on foot being so low. Thanks for the info

Payouts are usually less than a million, it is up to the player if they consider that 'worth doing' or not, the friends I play with most nights don't look at the credit reward, just if the mission is considered fun to do.
true, but i kinda need to get my ballence in check again for my carrier xD

Ah! We did some space BHing in a Haz Res together last night (with a couple of hunt pirate missions between us 3) so made a few millions (35) in missions payouts and a few more (I had 28) in bounties, over an hour of mostly messing around. First time in days that none of us was 'killed' by each other... For the rate we were 'sorting out' the pirates we could have taken bigger missions (and a KWS) and came away with more.

The other on-foot activity that pays well is High CZ, when you can find them.

On foot missions often come with tha bonus of loot. Restore missions may not pay much but loot the base after its powered up and you can make a tidy sum selling mats and data to the bartender. Power up a kill scavz base with a spare power reg and do the same. Remember to take back the reg tho lol

It's not unreasonable, considering ship missions involve hiring a starship and Pilots Federation pilot, whereas on-foot mission involves hiring one grunt with a gun.

But there are different types of reward for on-foot stuff. I haven't done much myself, but I've heard that on-foot warfare can cause big Influence shifts (you are targeting a faction's staff directly).

i Personally always saw most missions(with the obvious exception that are out of balance in contrast) not as a "way to make good money" but a way to make safe money(relativly safe). Missions provide you with a clear, and known, reward for a clear, and known, risk as well as known effort.
I can make more money by trading manually then by doing a procure or transport mission for example.
HOWEVER i have to spend some time prior to figure out what to trade where, and even with third party tools it may be unlucky do to outdated data(happend a few days ago, i almost made a 5 Million loss on a trade do to a outdated market and i had to jump far further then expected to sell for profit)
A procure mission only has me figure out where to buy the material relativly cheap nearby, thats still one point of research/failure, but its one less
a Transport mission has me do nothing but fly, it pays the least normally, but it is the most "direct" option

this obviously is using ships as a example, but on foot acts similiarly in taht regard
