Newcomer / Intro Mission poping up in my Inbox

Hi CMDRs

So something funny happened: I received three messages in my Inbox (in game ) about missions while I was flying. I got,
- a Delivery Contract
- a Salvage contract
- a collect salvage

Not idea why I got those guys, and no idea how to complete them either.


The Delivery Contract for example, It tells me:
- Contact, Ceydannee
- System LUHMAN 16

I went into LUHMAN 16, but how am I supposed to find the contact ?

I got it.

I had to select the "check" in the email to "activate" the mission.
It took me a while to try that : )
I completed the mission an collect a astonishing reward of 6,500 Cr

Now question, why does that mission appear in my Inbox? Does it mean something ?

Yes, I've had a number of these too. So far I haven't bothered with them as I've been doing other things, might actually take a bit more time and examine in greater detail to see whether it's something that might increase reputation with a particular faction in an interesting way...

Since I've not looked too carefully, I'm not sure why they show up. I always believed that such random missions show up because you have been working in a particular system or with a particular faction for a specific period of time, then RNG spawns them. If that is the case (but TBH, these types of inbox missions are new in 2.4, different from the older tip off missions, so I don't know), then that would be disappointing, as I am allied with all factions in the system where they show up, and they were very underwhelming missions.

They're Off-board missions, they usually pop up if you're in the one system for an extended period of time. My pay-out for a courier mission was much higher than 6,500 credits.....and I got an offer of a Follow-on mission to boot!

wait till u get an "tip off" mission... oh man i remember when i got one to some place in plaedes sector and found a UA lying around the crashed ship i was suposed to investigate! that was a 'crush' ed moment for me!
