Mission Rewards in 3.0.3 are Borked!

I probably wouldn't have noticed this, as I typically am only focused on either the money or the engineering mats/data for my reward choices, except that I needed a "reward only" commodity (Neofabric Insulation) and could find any (as covered in this in this thread).

However, the situation is far worse than these reward only commodities not being available (barring modular terminals and bromellite, which is EVERYWHERE) - many of the missions are offering absolutely insane rewards! When 3.0 launched, the reward choices were usually Lots of Cash/Engineering mats or Data/Increased Influence or Rep. Sometimes the second or third was replaced by some rare commodity - like modular terminals or bromellite - which was fine. But since 3.0.3... oh, the insanity.

Often one, or more, of the choices is for a commodity the station sells! "Oh boy, can I really have 38 tons of Hydrogen fuel mister?!" Or "Oh wow, 30 tons of Biowaste, that's just what I needed!" Perhaps the most insulting one of all - Limpets. Yes, that's right: you can forego a major cash reward for a whole 31 limpets! You know, the things you can buy in the restock section for 100 Cr per limpet? Or even make your own with synthesis! [haha]

I just... I don't even have the words. I would probably just be laughing the whole thing off if I hadn't spent 3 hours futilely looking for neofabric insulation (the last thing I needed for the corrosion resistant racks from the tech broker). Even if these are still in the rewards table, they have almost no chance of ever appearing if they have to compete with hydrogen fuel, biowaste, limpets!!!, Non-lethal weapons, etc. In fact, the only interesting commodity I saw was that one mission gave you a choice of 37 Imperial Slaves. That's disturbing... but at least you might be able to sell those for more than the cash you're opting out of (probably not).

Devs, fix this already! I'm guessing this broke when you fixed certain exploitive rewards. Fixing that... fine. A fix that wastes reward options with limpets?! Argh! :mad:

I've already sold the meta-alloys and radiation baffles I bought to unlock those special cargo racks. Until you get this sorted out, I've given up on the tech brokers all together. I'll just be focusing on missions to get engineering mat/data... or I'll go bounty hunting.

Limpets... why?! How did that even make it into the list... [blah]
 
Yeah. They aren't even a commodity. So might even have had to been added specifically.

There are a heap of commodities that would make perfect mission rewards, such as bootleg liquor, precious gems, or even rare goods. These would be worthwhile as mission rewards. Not limpets or biowaste.
Actually, i would accept biowaste. Is valued at 60cr/t but sells for up to 600 at agri markets, and doing so will have additional bgs effects.
 
High Tech and Military economies have neofabric insulation as mission reward.

Did any of you guys check the passenger lounges in either of those types?

Haven’t seen material or data rewards in quite some time. Thought I could use rank grind to actually help procure mats but guess those days are done. Gotta find this Dav’s hope everyones been talking about...

I went to High Tech and Military economy stations that I'm allied with most of the factions. No missions were offering neofabric. No Passenger missions were offering neofabric. The Military station did like to offer me lots and lots of non-lethal weapons as rewards, though.:rolleyes:

I've checked Extraction, Refinery, Industrial, Tourism, and the two above. No Neofrabrics. However, everyone loves to give modular terminals. [big grin]

Oh, I've been swimming in material and data rewards. I can get lots of missions that give me 5 Biotech Conductors/Exq. Focus Crystals/Modified Embedded Firmware. I've also run across several giving G4 and G3 mats. It's just that since 3.0.3 and least one reward slot is often hogged by junk commodities that you could just buy from that very station![noob]

Yes, but I typically saw it given as a reward at stations that sell biowaste. And whatever the value of the commodity is, it's just deducted from the cash only value. So the ones offering 31 limpets were giving you cash as well... just 3100 credits less than the cash only method. In short, it's wasting a reward choice slot.

I too have been looking for Neofabric Insulation as the last component to unlock the 16T CRCR for the Ram Tah #2 mission

I have wasted hours of my life!
 
There are some odd rewards.

I posted this on another thread. I had just delivered 30t of biowaste and one of the rewards was to be given back 28t of biowaste.

Stations reward you with cargo that the station supplies (that's the fix for missions which were offering mining-only rewards creating infinite mining mission chains). You can take it to a different station still.

So if FD "fixed" the mining mission exploit by having stations only give rewards that they normally sell as commodities, and no station sells neofabric insulation as a commodity...
