Mission suggestion: wave like defense mission.

While I was playing the training challenge scenarios I saw the "Incursion" mission, which puts you up against increasingly difficult waves of hostiles. This gave me an idea, why not implement this in open/solo/private as a random event?


I would imagine it going something like this:

  1. you drop in a Distress call/Gunfire detected [threat 1-4]
  2. you'll encounter a neutral ship most likely a haulage vessel, but higher threat might be some important figure in a passenger ship(like a politician) under attack by pirates/terrorists
  3. you save the vessel(or don't, but you won't get the mission that way)
  4. the vessel thanks you, but says his FSD has malfunctioned (or some other issue preventing him from fleeing) and you need to protect him till the police arrives
  5. the player will get a mission critical update which states to protect the vessel for a reward
  6. if the player denies, the pirates/terrorists will still drop in but won't target you, if you accept, you'll get a "incoming hostiles" message and the first wave begins after a couple of seconds.
  7. the player has to defend himself and the neutral ship from increasing waves of hostiles. Every new wave is announced by a "incoming hostiles" message.
  8. after the player has successfully defeated all the waves feds or some other form of law enforcement arrives and will say that they'll take it from here.
  9. the player is free to leave and claim his reward.
If the player jumps out or the vessel gets destroyed the mission is failed.

The threat level would influence the strength and amount of waves and (of course) the payout.

This could also sometimes be the other way around, having to protect some terrorist or pirate lord from waves of law enforcement (which would of course be illegal and get you a seriously big bounty on your head.)

As some of the code already exists in the "Incursion" mission I wouldn't think this would be so hard to implement, I, of course, am no coder so I don't know about that.

It would definitely be a fun, immersive and challenging mission, at least for me.
 
OOOOHHHHH YEAH..... imagine the bounty claims I could make off of this. and yeah. I am up for something a little more challenging than just 1 on 1 battles with pirates. so I am in +1 :)

just adding to the idea, I have noticed War Thunder has just added a new aspect to multiplayer matches. Assault is essentially a all player vs waves of AI. perhaps we could revive a part of CQC with a simular aspect...rather than groups of 4 dominating free for all deathmatch (oh how that es me off) maybe we could all just be friends and kill threats of Chuck Norris proportions? just an idea :)
