Mission system rework petition. Wing mission buff petition !

Wing mission payout are a joke.

Haul thousands tones for a few millions (You'll earn 5 - 10 times more stacking solo mission). Kills hundreds of ships for a few millions (you'll earn 5 - 10 more bounty hunting). All of that with really high rebuy cost and fines. nice !

FDev mission system is a joke. Unbalanced. Only passenger mission are paying well enought and they don't even favor Kruger's ship... what a joke. Why can't we stack luxury passenger mission ? And why aren't they paying the most ?
Why is that Anaconda / Cutter are still better money maker at passenger mission ?

Mission board is full of crap. 20k Ly passenger you'll never take as even with 20 - 40M each they play crap compared to what you can make inside the bubble.
And now we have all those wing mission with crap payment.

It seems that each time FDev make a new feature, instead of making it gold rush and favor it, simply nerf it to the maximum so people never use it at all...
And after that we have money exploit or gold rush because FDev didn't recruit enought good programmers...

Why is that passenger mission are only money maker and that Kruger's ship are of no use in this matter ?

You had the opportunity to make wing mission something interesting and you do everything in your power to make them the less profitable thing in the game.

After all mission is the core gameplay of Elite Dangerous and it was never announced it was going to be reworked ?!

C&P and engineers update was useless compared to how mission system is broken !

Please make this thread big, huge, so FDev seriously buff wing mission to 5 - 10 time what they currently pays and rework their unbalanced broken mission system.

I agree that wing missions rewards need a buff, and a with a factor of 10 would be a good start. Not just for money, but also other rewards. I saw a mission to haul thousands of tons that gave, like, 5 MEF. I could do 5 data delivery missions each awarding 1 in a fraction of the time.

However, one thing I noticed is that wing missions apparently have displaced regular missions, which exacerbates many other issues with the mission system and even further deepens the effective need to mode switch just to get the chance at a decent mission.

Because the thing is, players are normally mostly locked in when choosing a mission, for a variety of reasons (and often combinations thereof), so that people usually open the mission board looking for (a) specific type(s) of mission, and not just anything that happens to pop up and pay well:

* Currently flown ship and loadout (a massacre mission is of no use when you sit in your exploration DBX).
* Current mood (when you want to do some relaxed space trucking after a hard day, an elite assassination mission is not the right thing).
* Current chosen ingame goals (e.g. when collecting engineer materials a mission that only awards money is mostly a waste of time; when saving up for a big ship, a mission that gives lots of influence but little money is of no use, either).
* Current player stance towards specific factions, powers and superpowers (when you want to support a specific faction, it is of no use to you if an opposing faction offers a really nice mission).
* Current player stance towards the legality of actions (when you want to fight against crime, all these piracy missions offered by a local crime syndicate are obviously a no-go).
* Current amount of available time to play or time chosen to devote to this specific task (this is where even the nicest wing mission can become irrelevant when you just don't have the time to haul 2000 tons around, and you just want a regular old 100 ton delivery mission instead).
* Whether one wants to stay in one location or travel around further away.
* Players usually wish to do a mission adequate for their ship (e.g. no killing hunting harmless Cobras when you're flying a battle-ready Corvette, no transporting a mere data package when flying a cargo ship able to carry hundreds of tons).
* General likes and dislikes for individual mission types.
* Also, when flying with friends, you have to have an agreement what you want to do together.

Put all these effects together and you will often find the vast majority of all missions are completely unviable right off the bat. This is the primary reason people do mode/board switching all the time. It's often rare that you find a mission that matches your current personal profile and also feels worth doing without board flipping.

And in 3.0 it has become worse. For example, my personal hub is, as is for many, Jameson Memorial. I am allied with all the factions in the system and this used to mean I can open the board, check all factions and always find at least one mission good mission, regardless of my current mission profile. Today: almost nothing. With the sole personal objective to fly one-way to Meredith City (one of the nearby places you normally get sent to all the time), I found only a single data delivery mission, and only after switching modes twice.

That's just nuts. What we need is that with each new variable added to mission generation, the number of available missions must proportionally increase, else any new mission type or variable is effectively a nerf to anyone whose profile does not include that variable.

wing missions need to be buffed in payout,
and at the same time, the payout for participants need to be participation based - and even pay out their participation share if they fell out of wing before mission finished.

Wing missions need better protection against exploits. Other than that, I don't mind better payouts. Winging is fun.

How do you find people to wing with?

Let's say I login. What do I do to join a wing? Will I be teleported to their system? Do we all have to be at a certain system?

I'm not sure... even in their current state you can give someone in a sidewinder a few million for zero effort.
Perhaps additional bonuses for participation would be a good way to build on that, but I think the base-reward is fine.
