Mission System - Still not right

Hi all, been a long while since I've played ED, lot's of changes to the game which I'm still getting used to. Just wanted to post about what I think is still the weakest part of the game.
The Mission System, I've seen it's be all prettied up which is very nice but I'm afraid for me it's still silk on a pig.

I'm a combat pilot primarily & like to do combat missions, since now it's the only way to advance with factions now that combat bounties count for didly squat.
So I scour the local systems and it's nothing but trade & resource based missions.

Is it really that hard to for the dev's to recognise that some people don't want to act as glorified couriers & miners.
Can't we have a mission system based on what the player wants?

Pwetty please FD with sugar on it make it so we can choose our missions or at least add a dominate system faction security chief who hands out combat missions. [heart]

Missions are generated by background simulation. Look for system with wars and conflicts and you will get combat missions :)

missions depend on economy, govermenttype and state of a faction.

so you can either search for a system with the right states and goverment-types (corporations in no state give out bhing missions on the regular; piracy factions without state will hive assassinations etc., factions in civil war will give out cz missions...).

or you can use combat to push factions into states you want, so you get the missions you want.

High Crime - lockdown and civil unrest will also generate assassination missions.

Sometimes it is not necessarily the system with the state, but related factions in nearby systems that will order the hits.
Bounty hunting (kill X pirates) is a great way of boosting minor faction rep - if aligned with the ratio of super power to minor faction, it at least helps with the super power as well.
