Mission to retrieve skimmer compoents: what am I doing wrong?

Out doing other missions and I receive a message from Gov Herman from HIP 5623 - while I'm out and about, please go to Pimi system and retrieve six units of skimmer components (just laying around in a restricted area), bring them back for your reward.

I go there, get in the SRV, find them, drag all six of them back to the ship. Noted that since I dared go into a restricted zone, there must be a bounty on my head. Didn't see it in Panel 1 (would have gone to a factor to take care of it first, but no listing means "why divert someplace else when it's not necessary?"). Headed back to HIP 5623 D'Arrest Ring, landed, checked the missions available (yes, that icon was there so I must be at the right place).

No mission to turn in.

Ok, so now I'm a little confused. I drop the game to menu, come back and find lots of RED all over the place, I'm "wanted" because of that bounty I didn't know was there. I figured that's probably why I can't turn in my mission. Ok, head to the nearest factor, pay da fine, etc. Now I'm a good guy again. Head back to D'Arrest ring. Icon still listed next to the "missions" and it's also on my Nav 1 panel and even the inventory has the icon there.

No mission to turn in.

Now very confused, I drop to menu, switch to Solo. Same problem. Exit to desktop, wait 15-20 seconds, log back in, same problem.

I have 6 days to turn this thing in. Is this one of those famous bugs or did I miss a step somewhere?

What does it say in the transaction panel?

Edit: By which I mean - post screenshots covering the whole of the transaction entry for that mission. Not that I don't trust you to read it all, but ... I don't trust you to read it all :)

Edit2: And you should be able to do those missions without a fine / bounty - I often just drive straight through - max speed, pick up a canister on the way through - if you get out fast enough they will rescind the fine I recall.

For edit 1: He he, I know what you mean. Please allow me to admit that I must need new glasses:

Referee voice: After further review, the mission was not to retrieve six skimmer components.
The mission was to retrieve 9 (nine) skimmer components. Nine. Not six. Odd that I could only find six of them. I guess I'll go back for more.

Gentlemen, please disregard everything after "Hello." As you were............
<goes off in a corner and grumbles about not being able to see the digits clearly using orange against that color of background and how much clearer it is when you can zoom in on a screen shot in photoshop so you can see the individual pixels, yeah, yeah, white digits on orange background, yeah, yeah. I'm old>

You saved me posting the follow-up 'and scroll down...' post ;)

Glad you got it sorted :)

Quick update: went back to the site got the rest of the components, finished the mission, hurray.

One odd point: I thought I was supposed to collect six components because there were only six components there at the site. Turns out that I would have had to return to the ship, exit to menu, log back in to get the next six components (actually only needed three by now) in order to complete the mission.

Dear FD: If I'm supposed to retrieve nine items, please provide nine items to retrieve so I don't have to wonder why I've run out of stuff to collect. Thanks.

So... a lot of older "salvage" missions were for more items than were generally available at the salvage site, and you had to drop in/out to get enough items. Templates for mission-board missions have been updated over time, and this is no longer a requirement.

However, the dynamic missions you receive in your inbox I find use the "older", usually broken mission templates... regression testing doesn't seem to be FD's forte.

Ah, well, I'm glad I mentioned it so you could mention THAT. I'll be careful in the future to only accept missions from the board and not on the fly. Thanks.

I know this is an old subject, but I just had a mission just like this one. I got it in my inbox and accepted it, went to the search site, and there weren't enough skimmer components there. Apparently, Frontier hasn't fixed this yet, so I guess I'll just have to log out and back in to get the rest that I need.

Edit: Logged back in, and now the skimmer components have moved "slightly". In the screenshot below, I'm just about where they spawned the first time. Now they're on top of a mountain! It's way too steep to drive up there, so I hope I'll be able to land my ship close by... Frontier, please...

Move away from the area before logging off to leave a clear space for them to respawn in the same place. You're supposed to get back in your ship and leave the area by going back into supercruise to reset the spawn.

I've noticed a few times that there are actually more than one salvage sites when I've landed. Drive or fly around close to the site you first find and there's usually another lurking nearby.
