Horizons Mission to the edge of the galaxy

Hey all

I recently setting off on a quest to explore the galaxy! Leaving from Sol I headed to Peiades and then California Nebula. This is where I discovered my first ever system (OOCHOST JT-F D12-13)! That's it, I'm now going down in history (delusions of grandeur or what) and have made a valuable contribution to humanity! The system I discovered is really interesting one too. I scouted the best looking moon and discovered new materials so it was all going so well.
Slight hiccup... After taking off I flew for while hoping to find a POI but none after about 10m minutes (can they even be found in unexplored systems)? So after that I found a nice place to land anyway and take the SRV out for another spin but I couldn't land. No matter what I tried, including one particularly bumpy landing (took my hull down 6% ouch!). In the end I gave up and decided to refuel at the sun ready for the next leg of the journey.

I'm heading to Soul and Heart Nebulas and from there, as far as my Asp will take me to the edge of the galaxy!
I will update again if/when I discover something (as the Klingons fondly say) worthy of song.

Cheers [heart]

Sometimes, it can be very difficult to land. Everything seems perfect and the bar is blue, you are down on the planet, but no joy. I don't know why. Some things that seem to help is to raise up a bit, tilt the nose till the bar turns orange and bring it back to blue with and then land it again. Sometimes just applying a bit of side thruster helps. If you are landing on a slope the ship will often misalign in one direction or the other and just adding thrusters in the opposite direction that the ship moved will bring back the blue.

Sometimes nothing will help and you will get very frustrated in the attempt. Some ships seem easier and less prone to these issues than others. The Diamond Back Scout lands easy, the ASP Explorer has given me fits but the Scout version has a lot less problems. The FAS can be a pain as well.

Just to check, you're continuing on your journey with 6% hull?
I had the same problem trying to land today in a crater on a heavy metal planet. Literally I just had to edge back and forth till the ship icon on the radar went blue

When he said down 6% I suspect it dropped by 6% not to 6%, so assuming he started with 100, now at 94. :D
