Missions falling on arrival to destination

I am getting realy upset!!

I was jiped out on 2.6M credits and also credits even from a low Ly run. The Passanger mission fails as I was landing in station saying I ran out of time but the clock had 9 Hours left.!!!

And another mission just from a to b on docking at station b the mission faild becuse an update came in when I just docked.

This is really frustrating, are some missions deliberately crated to fail??? After spending hours on sight seeing missions after reaching all the destination points and returning to the starting station to clam the reward.

Every time I reach Corgial and fail a mission I get demoted back to Neutral!! How am I ever going to rank up, my rank is stuck an 100% None and i am required to be Rep of friendly to access the missions that ranks me up.

What am I doing wrong?

The passenger was, and I got a message from them moments out of the Origin station but not a 2nd time.
It only failed one I returned/Docked after compleatiing the last trip. Do is this mean that the mission was a failure from the start?

What do I need to equip on the ship to keep from being scanned?

I am avoiding the passenger missions that say the passenger might be wanted becuse I can get in trubble with authority ships , unfortunately those give much better CR rewards.

That's the risk and the fun. Watch the scanners for a gap in the security patrols. 4 pips to ENG, silent running, boost until you're out of mass lock, jump.

Fast Thrusters. Line up with the mailslot 10km out, hammer towards it and request docking as you approach.

Can this be done with a docking computer?

Also can a docking computer work once vary close to the slot or one inside the station?

I have used the DC many times and its a great deal helpful.

Get rid of the docking computer. Seriously. It's the worst thing you can possibly be using on these sensitive passenger contracts.

Also, fly a fast ship. Preferably a Cobra. The best smuggling vessel there is.

Ok I will try this without the DC.
I am using an Asp X and want to save CR for a Python.

The Asp gives me the best Ly range and it has twice the fuel cap + has a Fuel scoop.

Passenger mission will not fail due to be scanned, you may get less money. It's a bug in the game, and this mission failed og can't complete mission bugs have been there from the beginning of ED.

Frontier own me over 200 mio due to bugs in the game.

If this is a bug, I need this fixed, I my self have lost at least 10M so fare, I could of been half way to purchasing my Python.

I do these all the time in a Cutter so you certainly do not need a small ship.
just line up and boost out of the station keep going straight and fast,go to SC then jump and you will not get scanned leaving.
When you arrive take the time to line up the ship with the slot in SC then drop in boost and request dock.
In fast out fast is all you need, you do not need silent running at all to defeat scans.

Thanks Guys I will try this. I also want to ask, for this Passenger missions, would it be worth getting a Orca or just keep grinding till I can get the Python?

You can fail missions if the pax are requesting not to be scanned and you get scanned. You get one or two scans before their satisfaction drops enough that they ask to be let off.

I think the only thing the passenger-specific ships like the Dolphin, Orca and Beluga get you is the ability to equip luxury cabins. Not sure I'd recommend a Python unless it's going to be your main/only ship. The only reason being you can get much better jump range on other ships, which you might want for pax missions.

Here's a couple other tips:

If they ask for commodities, just don't respond to the request. As far as I can tell there's no negative impact to the mission if you just ignore (but don't decline) the request.

You can scan ANY tourist beacon in the destination system (unless it's been changed in the last few weeks) and get credit for the one they wanted to see. Handy in those systems where you'd otherwise have to fly 200 or 300 ls.

As someone who uses docking cpu on every single ship, I don't find it that bad. Just simply enable silent running near the docking doors. Once inside activate the cpu and you're all set.

Yes you can activate the DC at any time one you have permission to land..... line up boost through the slot and as you pass in drop throttle to zero to activate it and let it handle the final approach to the pad.
Another useful tip when coming in too hot for landing is to drop the landing gear to scrub off speed they act like 'air-brakes' even on air less planets !

Thanks for the Tip on commodity requested.
I am going for the Python becuse is a well rounded ship, but what do you recommend has the best jump range, is the FDL better?

I was vary successful last night with a mission that gains me 5.6M CR. Now the same station is offering more at that CR level. So no time at all I should hit 50M CR wich is near the price of the Python and FDL.

Fantastic, that's what I was wanting to do, I have no problem geting in the slot, it's just landing on platforms.

They can fail if you're transporting someone who doesn't want to be detected. Two scans and it's all over.

The FDL is worse in terms of jump range. If you want a versatile ship the Python is fine, it just doesn't have great jump range. It's my only real complaint about the ship.

The Dolphin isn't bad if you want to bang out a bunch of passenger missions. It's small but inexpensive and you can engineer it up to decent jump range, like 30+ ly.
