Thought I'd pitch a few ideas I'd like to see implemented because the missions currently are lacking variety.
Search and rescue: players get a distress call, either on the mission board or as a message (top left ship panel), a ship could be stranded out in space or maybe on a planet somewhere and has run out of fuel. Players must then equip fuel limpets and go to their rescue.
Hostage crisis: players get a distress call from a ship being held captive by pirates, you must go to save them by taking out the pirate ships and either escort them back to a certain safe point or give them a lift in your passenger cabins.
Or...in a cruel twist of fate, sell them off to slave traders who will give you more credits for them seeing as they are VIPs.
Breadcrumb trail: players learn about an escort mission which has been ambushed. You are given the system in which they were last heard from and go to investigate. You find remains of one of their ships, scan the black box and are then given another clue as to where to head next. After 2-4 black box stops you are either confronted with a smuggler pirate battle to save them or the remains of the ships in question. Three outcomes are possible, die at the hands of the pirates, kill the pirates and return the people or scan the black box and take the sombre news back to relatives.
If I think of more I'll post them here but for now, what do you guys think and what mission variations would you like to see??

Stolen cargo: you get a call that something of value has been taken by a certain individual and must be retrieved before it is sold. You're given a name and a system and must search for, scan their cargo, and hatch break it back, expect resistance!!
Daring pilots need only apply!!
Optional addition...if you're with a wing, you all share the proceeds.
