Horizons Missions I'd like to see.

I'm wondering if there is not scope for different missions based solely on your play style Explorer/miner/trader/PvP etc. Sort of depending on your Decal maybe (I use the Exp Decal).


Example: The Miner "Armageddon" mission. "Cmdr there is a rouge comet in the Blahblah system that is a hazard to shipping and potentially may impact an inhabited planet. Please take device "A" and instal it on the comet. Location and depth of hole have been provided on your computer."

The Explorer: Please take this beacon and install it at location "Meh" in the Yeuk system. (This will be in unexplored space far far from the bubble)

The Volatile (Trader) : Cmdr please take this highly volatile substance to "whatever station" Please note that if the temp goes over "X" degrees the substance will explode. Take care."

These would be high pay missions and very rare.

I don't know if a thread like this has been started before, or the suggestions made before, but who knows, someone might come up with an implementable mission.

What missions would you like to see?
 
I'd like to see something like the espionage missions and that were in Frontier. They could take you to secret installations that you wouldn't find otherwise. I used to love doing those.
 
Yeah, that'd be a cool twist. Did you play Frontier? You would be sent to take pictures of secret installations belonging to the rival faction. I could see loads of potential for expanding on that kind of idea. The silent running angle is a great idea.

"Commander, we let loose a young and very hungry Thargoid in your ship with 6 other CMDRs. The release was accidental. However, we need that specimen alive. Do hurry to the rally point in Zeta Reticuli! Under no circumstances should you deploy your hardpoints or reactivate your lifesupport."

Add a twist: Do hurry to the Ripley outpost, make not attempt to deploy Hardpoints or reactivate lifesupport.
 
The missions dept. at FD seems pretty locked down, they are restricted by bandwidth amongst many other things. I'd like to see them made of higher importance to the game. I think the user XP of missions is of far more importance than current game acknowledges.

I'll not argue against any of that, and I can even see why the importance of the great majority of mission types NEED to be fairly even. But it also is a bit bland after a while. I know they'd never be able to do it, but it would be great if there was a practical joker dept that could throw out seriously weird stuff.

EG: A Community Goal mission to run for between 5-7 days "Evacuate the Planetry base". The Giant Red Dwarf sun of that system is set to have a MASSIVE Solar outburst and will fry everything in that system. Huge payouts getting larger as that 7 days tick by...difficulty level? after 5 days the sun could flare at any moment, get caught insystem when it flares and it's bye-bye ship time and the rebuy cost is all yours.

But setting up the graphics for that would mean an entire update probably, as would most of the missions we probably would come up with, but there's no harm in letting our imaginations have a romp on the keyboards.

How about a Dark Wheel mission or two from you? :D
 
Not wishing to trigger the response of a certain other well known player on these forum, but comets are currently missing from the game. As are accretion disks.

And you can only do it when the station is on the night side, they mostly come out at night. Mostly

Alternatively just nuke the site from orbit, only way to be sure (for reduced pay)
