Missions in wings

Hello, I have been playing this game (on and off) pretty much since release, I think I must have well over a thousand hours of game time. I thought when this game was released that it was a multiplayer game. And yet.... when you are in a wing missions as a general rule before the update were hinckey at best (different messages for you and your wingman, target being in two places at once, one of you not being able to complete the mission, killing the target in multiple locations etc.), post update they are just downright broken (it seems that the devs don't want you to accept missions with a wingmate at all now) I just accepted an assassination mission and when my wing man tried to accept the same mission the game refused to let him (and yet the mission was still on the board). Please can anyone explain to me why after nearly four years of development a function that is surely key to multiplayer enjoyment is still so catastrophically broken and has in fact, as I previously mentioned, got worse since the latest update.

I really want to play this game, but I want to play with friends (out of the 7 friends I have that bought this game, only myself and my aforementioned wingman occasionally still play this). I am very disappointed, the story is nice but when you don't have working mechanics in the game to back it up you can forget it. I shan't be playing again.

Because they built the mission system after and on top of underlying disconnected components (the BGS, Powerplay, Engineers, Passengers and now S&R) that it's too complex to retrofit in co-operative or even shared multiplayer missions. At least that was what FDev said during a live stream and that wing missions aren't even "on the list" anymore. That was the case after 2.3, anyway. It doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon, either.

Yeah no group content unfortunately, it would make a massive difference and would be incredibly fun to have a LFG system to make parties to go fight the thargoids for example.
 
The Devs say this game is too difficult to fix.

We already know that, 3 years since the realease and the game is a mess.
 
No wing missions is a horrible missed opportunity.

No multicrew missions is a horrible missed opportunity.

Wings not working with multicrew (up to 4) is a horrible missed opportunity.


But it won't be fixed or reworked because that kind of change can't be sold in a new expansion/season/whatever they are going to use for 3.0.
 
I'm hoping that this kind of thing will come in next year.

When the devs say it's too difficult to do, that's normally because its too difficulty to do in the time allowed because other major pieces of functionality have priority.
 
Couldn't a wing mission be treated like a miniature 'Community Goal'....where wing members have to opt in and perform some minimal requirement of the goal in order to qualify for a share of the reward, with the tiering being additional chained objectives each tier being released on successful completion of the first with a failed tier meaning an early conclusion bringing the chain to an end.
