Missions not adjusted on players lvl, experience etc etc

I got a mission and was very excited about it, hunt some terrorist down and
get 150.000 credits for it.

After some hours searching i found the terrorist but when I entered the unknown signal source thingy
i encountered an ELITE Anaconda and was shot down within 2 seconds. ( he went immediately nuts with full guns blazing )

I mean come on, i expect that it should be difficult ( 150.000 CR is not peanuts ) but this was a mission impossible.
I mean i have a heavily equipped Viper Mark 3 ( almost fully upgraded ) but an Elite Anaconda is no match for me, its simply suicide.

Dont take me wrong, i managed to kill many Pythons and Anaconda's but those were mainly Harmless or Novice ones.
Expert or higher NPC Anaconda or Pythons are simply suicide runs. ( I expect that some geeks here will claim that they are so great and can manage this , i say prove it via a youtube movie )

My point is that when i take a mission that is obtainable i can finish it and there is some "fit to lvl" mechanic behind it.
It seems that the missions are simply for everyone and noobies and hard core players all see the same missions.
It takes the fun away for me a little bit ( great game :) ) and prevents me from taking missions for my money because i cant determine the risk/reward for a mission.

Anyone advice? ( how to determine risk/reward )

Do a little searching on the forms, there's lots of videos of it being done and tips on how to do it. These are actually my main source of income while moving up the ranks in the Empire. I'm in a cobra now, but I honestly think it's easier in a viper.

If I wasn't on my phone I'd find one for you, but suffice to say it can be done and it's my preferred method of earning credits. Get some shield cells, chaff, and gimballed multi cannons. Target the power module and win. Stay under his belly is possible.

1. You can take out elite Anaconda in any ship, aside from a stock Sidewinder, but that Sidey is free, so you don't really lose anything if you fail in it.
2. A pimped out Viper can take out that Anaconda fairly easily, if it seems like suicide you might want to re-evaluate your tactics.
3. There's no level/experience in ED - galaxy is not tailored to your personal situation, so you need to choose missions wisely (i.e. your jump range may not be good enough to do the hauling mission or you may not have enough Cr to do a shopping mission).

Elite wants to be like real life , why would it adapt to your XP , that seems stupid to me. if you go and do a high pay mission expect the worst

As far as I understand it there is no intention to match NPC's to any players "level", for one thing more than one player might be facing the same NPC. Another thing is that persistent NPC's are planned, they will have their own attributes that may evolve.
The main reason is that it is supposed to be a consistent shared galaxy, so if there is a feared NPC he cannot be weak to some and hard to others. That makes no sense.
Even in single player this kind of leveling can fail completely - remember the total failure that Oblivion was compared to the other ES games, almost completely down to this levelling mechanic. Otherwise it was an ok game.

I agree fully. But I think a bit more could be done to warn players. Just small tweaks, like the targets Pilot Ranking and the ship he's flying.

Kill Dread Pirate Roberts for 150k.
vs
Kill (Elite) Dread Pirate Roberts, flying an Anaconda, for 150k.

I find the 2nd much easier to judge, risk/reward wise without all the hand-holding you get in some games "You are entering an extremely dangerous area", "the target is 5 gazillion levels above you", [big flashing red skull]

Read the mission text. It doesn't seem ambiguous to me. If you took a mission to kill a pirate king, mass murderer for 150,000 credits and expected him to be in a Sidewinder or an unshielded cobra, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for targets for your 2mil upgraded viper to chew up, you will not.

I went from Mostly Harmless to Novice on an Elite 'conda, so scaling to XP has nothing to do with it.

I was in the same situation as you, 150k is big money for me.

Elite anaconda, turrets, missile launchers and the bloody plasma accelerator. I had a cobra mk3, I died once and twice I had to flee. I tried different setups and tactics and eventually I killed him.

It's a tough fight for a cobra with basic kit. But so it should be. I used counter measures for the missiles and chaff to confuse the turrets. Shield cells for good measure.

Turns out I didn't need the counter measures at all. I just stayed behind him as best I could, if I strayed underneath or on top I popped the chaff to confuse the turrets.

My weapons of choice were 2x c2 gimablled multi-cannon and 2x c1 gimablled multi-cannon all bound to the trigger.

As long as he can't get a lock on you should be OK, use the shield cells sparingly as you don't wanna run out before the feds turn up to help.

Good luck

I have a fully kitted Viper also, Anaconda's die to my guns in around 2 minutes. The trick to killing elite ana's is to have a chaff launcher, ecm, and shield cells. My shields are never down for him to hit my hull. Also with the chaff's most of his turrets miss at range.

I fly an upgraded Viper and kill them, just use chaff (to screw up the turrets) and shield cells so he never gets to your armour. Also make sure you target the Power Plant as this will take him down quicker, just don't go head on always try to keep behind, above or below. If your shields do drop then boost away evading and dropping chaff till you get them back online again, never attack without shields.

Basically, fly smart.

There are no levels in ED with which to temper missions too (and neither should there be IMO).

The clue as to the potential mission difficulty is reflected in the payout.

On top of that, you cannot expect to succeed every mission regardless of how good you are (this isn't SWTOR afterall). Some will be tough and some may require coop.
