Missions still buged 3/4 months later

Seriously? You couldn't wait the two weeks until 2.1 beta (which contains a ton of fixes and changes to missions) and had to post your "doom and gloom" rant right now, before they fix it?

OP? You're not from around these parts, are you mate? All I'll say is be careful or you'll get some of the fanboy muppets planning their vengeance! Try punching their grandmothers in the face for a better reception! :p

that is the other irritating thing about elite (the forum actually): calling anyone that dont agree with the most silly of all complainers, a fanboy.
[added] ...and the constant insulting that those irritating categories of forum posters always have to puke out. disagree with them and ur a fanboy, or ur grandma get a smashed face....

It's always nice to know that missions are bust at the moment, even though 2.1 is on it's way. I'll wait until then before complaining about bust missions as I'm sure there will be a fair few to iron out during beta! :)

Does anyone know or have noticed a way to tell or avoid what missions will lead to this garbages that force you to log out?

I too would welcome an answer to this question. Thanks in advance.,

All multi-stage missions have the "four dots" at the bottom of the icon. Thus, the two-arrows-pointing-both-ways icon means a single-stage procurement (fetch-and-return) mission; the two-arrows-pointing-both-ways-with-four-dots-beneath-it icon is a multi-stage procurement mission.

I believe there is one scenario where you have to log out: its when you are in a multi-part mission where you try to accept the next step after the timer has expired. 'accept' will be greyed out, so you need to log and just abandon the mission. You already failed the mission, so I dont consider it to be 'sooooooooooo irritating' as the OP considers it to be. Then again, I guess I didnt find reading a basic history book 'soooooooo irritating' either. ;)

It seems you must be a Horizons owner. For those of us who haven't yet acquired Horizons, the multi-stage missions are all bugged: the game (correctly) won't let us accept such a mission if the first stage requires Horizons content (ie the destination is a surface starport or requires you to obtain surface-only commodities) but subsequent stages are not also checked for Horizons incompatibility. Thus, the second or third stage of a multipart mission might require you to have Horizons, even if the first stage did not; there's no way to tell, since it either doesn't know or doesn't tell you where the next stages are going to go at the initial "accept mission" stage. When it asks a non-Horizons-owner to go to a Horizons destination as the next stage of a mission, "Accept" becomes grayed out and the only option is to log out of the game and default on the mission.

Since the solution to this bug is, "Well, why don't you buy Horizons, you idiots?", there is no pressure on FD to solve this particular problem; as far as they are concerned, they have already solved it.

Missions have been bugged a lot longer than that! Stick to the 'vanilla' ones (carry A to B) etc and it's hard to go wrong. Avoid anything complicated or that depends on a third party to show up.

I've completed 2 or 3 of nearly every mission type. They work, but are glitchy and annoying sometimes. The rendezvous missions are especially annoying because in the "follow my wake" part, things can go wrong and fail the mission if time runs out. I've basically given up on the "safeguarding" missions for this reason. If they would just eliminate that and have a designated meeting point to go to in the system, it would be a lot easier. Supposedly they are fixing this in 2.1. We'll see.

All the really bugged missions were removed a month or so ago, because there was no point fixing the bugged missions when the entire mission system was being so massively overhauled. Personally, the only missions I ever had issues with were the hostage rescue variety.

To exit a Mult-Mission you must goto the Target Panel with the shortcut bind and then choose "Abandon".
Another Mission type that always baffles me is you have only a few mins to deliver a List to the station you're already at and yet your Target is named. You can't simply re-enter the BB nor exit station and dock again. The timer simply runs out after just 2mins. Crap!

Well, that's a hopeful sign, I guess...
