So, as if the mission system, influence, and faction relationships weren't vague/confusing enough...
I took a mission from a minor faction, Empire League. It wanted a message delivered to what it said was a "sub faction". It was a "message to the barbarians" message.
I took another mission from Empire League at the same time. It wanted "military intel message" delivered to the same sub faction.
Both missions resulted in increasing influence for Empire League. The "miltary intel message" resulted in increasing influence for the sub faction as well. No suprise. The "barbarian" message resulted in a negative effect on the sub faction. Not really a surprise, but...
Why is a minor faction offering two missions that result in the opposite effect? I get that it give me options...choose to benefit or harm the sub faction. It just doesn't make sense that a minor faction would do that. Shouldn't some other minor faction offer the mission that gets the opposite effect?
It makes it confusing as heck to figure out what impact a mission will have.
Also, just because they say "sub faction", doesn't mean it's THEIR sub faction. I just means it's A sub faction.
Last, taking a mission can help AND hurt the issuing minor/sub faction. Example: take some supplies to the controlling system outpost (not controlled by them). The issuing faction gets a positive from the delivery, but the receiving does too. So you get an increase in influence and decrease at the same time. Odd.
