Missions to kill Police and Entertainers......DON'T accept

Folks,

Take it from me that the missions to kill the police in another system or the well desribed missions to kill an errant entertainer who has annoyed the local politicians. my advice is not take them. If you do then you end up being WANTED and a large bounty on your head. Most importantly you are wanted at the station you get the missions from! So getting back into the station can be a bit hard unless you know how to creep in.

So stay away from these missions if you know what's good for you.

They do pay well though. :)

Just take the ones that are in a different system, then either stay away from that system until your bounty expires, or use a Suicidewinder to clear your fine.

This may sound funny or dumb, and you probably know, but its very easy to still go to stations as a wanted criminal. Just fly towards the opening, turn on silent running. The police will not notice you unless they get a chance to scan you/visually confirm you. But you're right, the bounty sucks. Those missions are mainly for pirate players who don't mind bounties.

I'd be more surprised if you didn't get a big rep hit and bounty for killing local authority and innocents.

So many players worry about having bounties on them, its actually quite fun... just make sure you have your ship set up for combat!

Not entirely true, unless the station is in the same system as your target(s). I embark on various missions from my 'home' system and I'm wanted pretty much everywhere in a 30LY radius. Squeaky clean at home though. They love me.

Re morality of it all, I never - ever - take missions against civilian targets. It's just wrong.

Ehh.. wanted status doesn't mean much anyway, only once have i been refused docking permission because i was wanted. all other times i was able to sneak in easily.

Consider the long term aims of it all.

it is possible that by completing the mission, the minor faction issuing the mission could see a big swing in fortunes in their aim to control their home system by increasing their own influence and decreasing that of others. This might be important, say, if you wanted a Federation system to turn Independent or Pirate, either for your own sake or at the whim of the Power in charge, without things getting messy for several other possibly innocent NPCs and players. With this operation, the only price paid was one dead politician, one bounty, and the self-respect of a player CMDR.

I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain. ;)

Basically, don't look at the bulletin board as a big yellow question mark.

There are all sorts of missions for all sorts of rewards. Some good, some neutral, some "evil".
Actually read the mission and see if it's something you actually want to do, rather than "Kill 10 rats in the cellar and return to me"
And have a basic understanding of the rules of engagement. Shooting Authority vessels will not cheer them, or the local system, up...

Yeah ... i just take the most profitable missions regardless now .... only time i avoid missions that will cause me to be wanted is if that system is one that i have a lot of use for .... but any surrounding systems .... meh ... kill em all :)
Powerplay stopped me caring about carrying a 1m+ bounty :)
