Misunderstanding elite dangerous

Hello commanders
I feel that a lot of players truly do not understand elite. There are two camps of players in the game right now. Those who want elite to be an mmo and those who don't. And from my perspective the game is both already. Yes there are some game mechanics that are missing and would make life in game easyer but the community is adapting and evolving if you don't believe me just take a look at the elite reddits that are out there to join. I for one am a part of the Hudson community and I have made new friends and we are working on growing our community. If you truly believe that you want more out of elite come join one of the growing power play community's. If you are happy running solo then you are free to do so.
I truly feel that elite is one of the best games I have ever played and I plan on playing for a long time. I look forward to seeing how it develops and grows.

I feel like you didn't really explain what's your point, but instead advertised Hudson Reddit ;)

I agree more content is a good thing and I feel that it is right around the corner. But as far as player made content it is there already all you have to is join in

But what exactly are you trying to say? That online play with friends is better than single player? If so, that's a very subjective opinion. What's actually being misunderstood about the game? That it's both single player and MMO at the same time? I think you're wrong, in a sense that people DO realise that - we have Solo and Open, that's not rocket science exactly.

I really don't get your point, no sarcasm, genuinely don't understand the point of your thread.

I must admit, I see an EVE avatar under a user-name, it immediately biases me against anything they're likely to post.
Rightly or wrongly, I assume they're approaching the game from the perspective of an MMO player, and an MMO that's particularly notorious for cut-throat political shenanigans.

Yeah, this. And if the point of the OP is that emergent gameplay is already there, it's just you have to go to Reddit to find it, then we definitely disagree.

Well in my opinion, the Reddit communities are a lot more healthy than this forum currently.

So he has got a point there.
I am not trying to promote the reddit community but what I will say is this at least on the reddit we have a positive and proactive outlook for elite and in this forum all I ever read about is doom and gloom. And players rage quitting all the time. It would be nice for a change if the FD forums were not so negative

Elite: Dangerous has two things in common with a woman. One, there are different sizes of suns. Two, trying to understand it just makes everything complicated.

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. I think you should edit the OP to make it clear, but maybe (probably) it's just me being daft ;)

I can see where you're coming from, but I think this is inevitable. Just how it works. You buy a game, you dislike something about it, so you go to the developers' forums and complain there rather than on a different website/forum/group, because the official forums is where the developers can hear you scream. And it's in human nature to be very vocal about the stuff we dislike and when we do like something, we just quietly enjoy it.

This is the main reason behind the Frontier forums appearing to be negative - IMHO.

A post like this just makes my point without even knowing me and how much effort and dedication I put into elite this commander makes a negative comment about my intentions!!!

Some might argue that having to go to a Reddit to find in game communities and participate in player driven 'content' is not necessarily a positive thing.

Would we like the game to have the mechanics that we need in game of course we would but we have to make do with what we have. I feel that one day FD will add them to the game. And what I expect on this forum when that happens is a lot of crying and rage quitting on how FD ruined the game.
