Mod Storage

So I have a python, I like to use it for trading and combat. What I don't like is having to go find/rebuy the modules I sell/replace with cargo racks when I go from combat to trading. When (if ever) are we going to be able to store modules?

Probably not very soon, if ever. Simply buy a cheap ship with large enough internal compartments and store your modules this way. It's at least a viable tactic for rare or discounted modules.

Whilst not a solution, I agree some sort of shed for your modules is a good idea, I am intending buying another Python. A tradathon and a Combathon. (You can tell I dont work in marketing).

Mod Storage, eh? Yeah, when I'm not needed I just go sit in this cardboard box in the corner.

But to OP's point, yes... I think the ability to store modules is a good idea. :) Agree with Spanksh, though - probably won't see it anytime soon.

well lets see we have to have a hangar to park our ships, so your telling me there is no where in our hangar to store some modules,,, maybe limit the amount per shop we can store,, but we should be able to store some. When you change out parts on your car u don't (have to) sell the part your replacing in order to buy the new one, u can store it in your garage. Thought this was suppose to be realistic. Hell a ship as big as a python you could store it on the damn ship...

What I would prefer even more is the ability to store modules in cargo racks. That would be pretty amazing. You could have one grounded trader at your home station and have him carry all your backup modules. This would possibly also allow trading modules.

This has been mentioned before. And although I want it as well, it does raise a few interesting 'issues'.

  1. Module storage would greatly increase backend DB size - Not exactly insurmountable, just something to remember.
  2. Commanders would then want to transfer modules between locations in their cargo holds. It's a given. This then raises the sticky question of what happens when the ship gets destroyed. Do the modules
    1. Get destroyed and charged for in the insurance screen
    2. Get destroyed and lost
    3. Drop into the local instance as a scoopable object
    4. A mix of the above

If modules started dropping, we'd be down the route of EvE Online griefing in no time!
If they just got lost, imagine the howls.
If people got charged and they didn't have enough cash for them, again, imagine the howls.

Just pointing out that it's not necessarily as simple as you may think ;)

A fix for all the above (except DB size) would be to only allow storage at a station, not in your ship. Which makes sense to me, if your trading u don't want some of your cargo space taken up by modules and if your doing combat you want SCB's instead of cargo racks. So store/change out at stations only. problem solved.

Oh, I agree, but it would only be a matter of time before it was asked for / demanded

just buy 2 Pythons, and you are fine.

Cheers Cmdr's

some of us have a life and also have to work and thus do not have the time to farm enough credits to buy 2 pythons,,, and buying 2 pythons is just silly when u only need to swap out a few modules to change what you want to do with it. and i still have to save for my anaconda,,, maybe in a year or so.

wanting mod storage was the general consensus when they tried to cut resell value 10%; hopefully they won't bring back the -10% without a storage option. (plus it'd be cool.)
