Modded FSD problems

I have started out on a new expedition and have been taking as many NS as possible until I get out past where I have already been. I was overcharging my FSD and got a message telling me that my FSD had malfunctioned and that it had gone offline and then back on. I checked it and it is down to 79%! ?!? I am 5.5k LY out from Sol and I'm already down that much? Is it the modding that does this (weakened integrity so that it gets damaged faster) or is it the overcharging that does it?
It's a good thing that I packed a good AFMU!

Supercharging your FSD with neutron stars does 1% damage to the drive each time. Once it drops to 80% it will start malfunctioning.

Time to make use of that AFMU!

you will sometimes find as well that if you don't exit the cloud quick enough after charging it can drop your FSD by an additional 1%, so some jumps you lose 2%

yep this, and some intense cones can drop you 2% straight away from a single charge.

Neglect your FSD and it may just drop you out of SC right in the middle of the cone, don't say we didn't warn you ;)

I can just imagine trying to escape the jets while it fails again! and you need to do a reboot & repair while inside a cone - I bets that's fun!!
