modder community idea!!$$

i was thinking on how ED could make extra money with out really working at all and people would still love it.
there are modders out there really good at making ships, i'm sure you've seen some really good ones outside of SC and ED where people would just make a model.
what i'm suggesting is a Licensed by Elite: Dangerous staff modder community with products that are pre-reviewed by them so it meets the perfect requirements of the game. and each purchase would be taxed at lets say 20% of sale. that means let's say a modder made a huge aircraft carriers with everything needed to comply with the game, and it would have interiors and all that jazz and he would charge this huge aircraft carrier and let's say he sold it for 25$ that would mean the developer would earn 5$ each time. this allows modders to reach a huge customer base and when frontier makes more money, there is more developments.....oh those prime juicy developments mmm

i say licensed and regulated cause having a cluttered list of mods which you would have to go through looking for good ones is not appealing at all.

anyone think this is good? anyone want to add something?

If you pay cash for a big ship, the game will be Pay to Win. So, that's a no-no for me right there.

I am happy for fan made FD approved ships though, but I doubt much bigger than a Lakon Type 9 for players. Maybe big ships for the Faction leaders to help missions play out though.

Slim

what?! how could possibly be asking for not bigger ships...unless you mean only staff makes those aircraft size like ships? cause i really really want to pilot a huge ship. even bigger than Lakon Type 9.

ugghhh i didn't even think of pay to win. i really wish for them to make more money. but i guess they have to sell features like planet landings and cities and walking around your ship rather than ships or anything like that :/
eh thanks:/

I can't wait to see a 2 mile long ***** cruising through space....

can you imagine?!! walking inside that? and YOU own it? and you're friends could like park on it and ride with you. jeez i can't wait till they release co-pilot and walking inside ships

If I flew one I'd have no friends to share it with. Silly idea.

all ships are build to a certain design.
those designs match the alliances.
something you and I would build would never be the same.
think it would result in total chaos.
so no not a good plan.

you can simply just make them in the game.....
dude we could literally do that. bam friend

i doubt that. i bet they could if there is money in it.
gotta love capitalism

There's a real chance the game is coming out for consoles as well and if the universe is shared between PC and console players you can't really have modding features.

Not necessarily, it depends what features are available to modders. PCs could run any kind of crazy mod in SP/offline mode without any problems for anyone. In MP, so long as any mods are only HUD / UI type tweaks, not adding new content, again there will be no problems. FD have said they do want to add mod support, but they have to finish the game first, so they know what's there, and what they can reasonably allow access to without everything breaking

Art direction brother ... art direction we don't wanna see all kinds of junk in space with design so out of place it looks like a space junk yard ... as we all have preferences and taste ... that would definitely collide .. BAD idea even if it has no pay to win effect ... only cosmetic.

I'm against "pay for ships" and even more against "pay for mods", so I'd vote "no".

But I would absolutly love a support for mods in SP, and it would be even better for MP on private servers.

yes i believe its for a fact going to be on consoles but idk if shared universe.
cause there is a job title for cross platform programming

you're right, i hope they do allow that for solo....

licensed modders with licensed product by elite. my brothren

i'm against pay for ships that you receive automatically like in your inventory or something, i'm even against ships that are better than standard version ships of the game
what i'm not against is if ED came out with a different ship that had no advantage in performance or strength....just was a different ship...and you had to earn it with in game credits....you know?
