Model Variants for Animals

I've heard a lot of people talk about what certain features for specific animals should look like. The reality is however that pretty much all species have some level of variation in them.

This is why I propose that Frontier should add variant models to all their species.

I say all species as, in my opinion, there is not a single animal in this game that would not benefit from some variation in the mesh.

Think about it. You can have varying tusks, horns, antlers, manes, etc and etc.

For example, with lions, you could have a while assortment of different mane thicknesses. Or with your deer herds, they can all have slightly different antlers. These could even be very slight differences like the side of the neck where the mane of a blue wildebeest droops down.

Perhaps something like the random antler/horn generators in many hunting games such as CotW and Way of the Hunter could be implemented.

I would love this, especially antlers and horns variations. Don't think it's going to happen though. But they added color variations to all species at some point and that was kind of a big thing so who knows... We can always dream....

I think color variations can use an upgrade too.

I'd say have a series of specific skins for animals and have it vary on factors like saturation, hue, and brightness/darkness. Within a reasonable range of course

That way, you can theoretically have infinite variation. For example, with wolves, from one different fur variant, you can have all sorts of little differences determined by a random number generator
