Moderation deletes

I have been aware of posts being deleted for quite some time. There has never been any official communication saying what has been deleted and why.

What is going on? FD cannot just delete postings at their will without mentioning a reason - that is in direct violation of IP law in Illinois, as every post is owned by it's creator. Please explain!

Why on earth would you remove a simple line of screenshots displaying graphics card performance?

I am sure there must have been something wrong with the post in order for it to have been removed.

However what a funny thing to say that it is against IP law in Illinois! 1. I highly doubt that deleting posts on ones own forum is illegal (Frontier own the forum not the posters) and 2. Illinois is a little place in the USA that does not have any legal jurisdiction anywhere in the world apart from little ol Illinois.

There are rules in this forum, if a post violate these rules of this forum, moderators can remove this post. And if members violate the rules many times, moderators can ban him ... :)

Every forum moderator has the right to delete any post in the forum..... ESPECIALLY if its from Illinois

I've had a good look through all your past posts and none appear to have been deleted (as a mod even deleted posts are still evident). If you can be more specific with a thread and post number and I'll have a look into it for you. We're not in the business of arbitrarily deleting posts.

As far as my own expierence goes, no posts has been deleted. Mods remove content from posts which are openly offensive, but I have never seen them deleting posts, so I guess that's rare event. Most probably it has been moved to offtopic one of subsections.

You can easily look up where post is gone trough your posts history http://forums.frontier.co.uk/search.php?searchid=1591203 and look up which one has been for that thread.

Also this forum operates under UK law I guess, and it is on private site, which follows it's own rules. Therefore they can remove/move around stuff as they see fit.

Purely practical suggestion - if you have something to say, and you don't want to get removed or modded for some reason, do a blog post on your personal site, and add link to post here. Sometimes it is more practical, if you worry about post removals.

Just quietly - if you're linking to offensive stuff it's pretty likely to get 'edited' - oddly, for linking to offensive stuff. You're welcome to say what you will on your private site but Frontier has a reputation to maintain and we as mods have to consider that this is an open forum for all ages.

I can't believe the flame baiting continued.........

Disappointing.

Hi all,

If you believe that a post of yours was removed/deleted without reason, please message myself or one of the other moderators. We normally attempt to keep the posts content intact, without total removal. It is a very rare occurrence for us to simply delete a single post.

If a topic or post was posted, with being deemed not appropriate for this discussion board due to a terms of service violation or more specifically the forum rules/guidelines, then yes, moderation actions will be taken. Users will be notified privately of the moderation action(s) performed.

Thanks for understanding. :)
