Its a valid point, because it is also ridiculously easy to farm MEF from base runs when you're farming for CIF anyway, and this is going to be compounded by the materials broker, who offers trading down. I have said before that he new materials broker combined with the ease of gathering MEF will turn CIF, previously the hardest data in the game to farm, possibly the hardest material, period, into the most trivial. You'll be exchange MEF at 9 CIF for 1 MEF. Since CIF is also gathered from the same activity as MEF, there is a clear balance issue here.
I also strongly support more varied and higher quantities of data and other material mission rewards. If materials are offered, they should always be minimum 4. I am never going to do a half hour mission for one of anything.

I agree that it now seems to be the most common mission reward whereas once before it was fairly difficult to obtain. I have got to the stage where I almost have too much of the stuff, but I am trying to hold out until the 3.0 upgrade!
I now find it very difficult to get more than 1 unit of cracked industrial firmware per mission resulting in long intervals before I can visit Professor Palin to engineer thrusters. I am not fan of the data point scanning technique, partly because I made a mess of the first time I tried it!
Hopefully the 3.0 changes will improve things with the trading aspect.
