Mods the Engineers should offer

The Engineers offer a great variety of mods, but some modules are lacking engineer mods that would be advantageous for different play-styles. Case and point, the mining laser which is lacking mods entirely. So, below I've listed some mods that would be beneficial and not game-breaking that would allow for more specialized use of various ship modules.

How about rapid fire prospectors? Ones that don't take 10 seconds, or whatever, to deploy after you fire them. And faster, the only mining ship I have that can't overtake a prospector limpet while the cargo hatch is open is my Type-9.

I wonder about how much use overcharged mining lasers would be, as the distributor draw and heat are already ridiculously high. But my mining Vulture would definitely benefit from some.

You forgot Lightweight SRV bay, Lightweight FSD Interdictor, and Lightweight SCB. My courier needs to go faster!

Lightweight/Reinforced should be available for everything.

He also forgot High Capacity KWS and Feedback Cascade Point Defense. All the things should have all the things!

How about ultralight alloys for the standard hull - reducing the base hull mass instead of the modified armour mass.

- 2.5% hull HP per 2.5% reduced hull mass so we could shave off 25% base hull mass and loose 25% HP.

That I did! I knew I was forgetting something.

I've added the mods below and the lightweight interdictor and SCB to the list.

I've got one in there for limpet speed; I think the deploy timer thing should simply be removed and not required to be modded out.

That's more of a module than an engineering modification; we already have lightweight alloys which have 0T of mass so you can put heavy duty on them with no downside.

I think the vehicle hangar should not have any weight, i.e. not 6 tons... its weight comes in the choice of SRV, currently an empty bay weighs the same as one with an SRV in it :)

a whole raft of SRVs could be available with different pros cons like the current fighters

Could be something they change in the future. I like the idea; I did my best to propose mods that make sense to how the game currently is. I've got a whole list of suggestions for tweaks and changes for modules, but adding and incorporating those into this post would make it too long and confusing.

True, should be a simple ultralight module that perhaps works in reverse of lightweight - Reinforced - Military since each grade increase the effective hull strength by 50%.

- Ultralight: 75% Effective hull
- Lightweight: 100% Effective hull
- Reinforced: 150% Effective hull
- Military: 200% Effective hull

We could go with a -50% effective hull but the gain in reduced weight is abysmal so that would not really feel right.

Weight would be similar in reverse (comparing a Cobra mkIII and the Sidewinder reinforced and military increased hull mass by 8% and 15% each.) So ultralight for a Sidewinder would reduce the mass by 2 tonnes and a Cobra MkIII would reduce mass by 14 tonnes.

The mods I'm talking about are the Engineer's modifications. Not overhauling how armor works. They're great suggestions worthy of their very own thread however!
