Right, what's going on? Have the rules/RNG script changed?

PS4 - Unlocked Marco
Extraction / Industrial station - Zero MT's after 323 mission offers (and counting) what have contained everything BUT MT's

Has the RNG conditions changed?

They seem to be quite common reward for passenger missions so try the low value passenger A-B and sight seeing tours, they often have commodity rewards including Moduar Terminals (since 2.4)

Commodity and material rewards seem to be out of whack since the last patch where they lowered the credit payouts.

I've binned a couple of dozen since 2.4 so they're definitely out there still and I've been focusing on passengers in my Conda loaded with cabins. I'd save them up for you but you'd need to fly out to Colonia to pick them up lol

Correct, I am selling modular terminals by the bucketful. I am at Niu Hsing running one way passengers to Col for fed rank in my beluga.
 
Can confirm Modular terminals are rewards for "transport 10-22 business/tourists etc" passenger missions (economy racks), had loads (over 40+) that I've sold last couple of days.

I reached the dreaded MT task last weekend. Turned out not to be too bad. To confirm what has already been said, a reasonable number of passengers will offer 4Mt a trip. I targeted High Tech systems in Boom as I'd read that helped; although I found MTs offered in other systems too.

A tip is to check all the passengers in the lounge, included the ones with the wrong cabin requirements. It could be you only need to swap around economy/business/first cabins to be able to get them.

I know I will probably just irritate you at this point, but I'm doing a lot of simple "Transport" passenger missions and I usually have to empty my 16T cargo hold at least once an hour because it's cluttered by MTs and cooling hoses. If you want, I can fit a bigger rack and hold onto them for you and give them to you tomorrow evening?

And to be a complete at - if a particular activity (in your case certain missions in certain systems) doesn't give you what you need, why do you keep doing it for dozens of hours? It's always been the case that different mission types gave you different sets of rewards. In this case MTs were moved to passengers, when they came. If you've played Far Cry 3, you'd know what is the definition of insanity. :D

I've said it hundreds of times, but I don't think FD have listened.

MTs (and similar) need to be available to salvage from signal sources, surface POIs, and piracy too.
I'm fine with not being able to buy them, but we need more than 1 avenue of acquisition.

Totally agree sir. Why do we get the same ole Biowaste from the NPC ships we blow up? FD are so fond of RNG, so why can't we have a certain random mats drop out of destroyed ships, with the odd Ultra rare dropping from say elite and deadly NPC's.

Why does this keep breaking after an update? last time it was no EFC and every mission (Almost) was Biotech thingys!

FD, who keeps breaking this? surely a firm bottom smacking is in order?
 
I don't know about post-2.4, but I believe the RNG is faulty. No one can convince me otherwise.
Couldn't scrape together the req'd MT to unlock (after weeks of not finding any at or around my home system, I finally found some as mission rewards in systems around qwent), and after you do unlock, they're everywhere, including at my home system.
Not a coincidence. Fault in the code somewhere.

So - Now I have cabins and will no doubt have Marco happy in a few Hours playtime.

Well, it needs to be worth something in order for materials and commodities to be offered, so you should be bothered just a little.

Sounds bugged. Should be offered with any mission that offers enough credits for the conversion to materials/commodities.
 
The single biggest problem I see with crap like Modular Terminals is...

Aside from Marco Qwent, they're completely worthless, as this sort of garbage was written out of Engineering a while ago, so these things serve no other purpose. Then add to that that these are a manufactured product, which means somewhere someone has to be making these. And since no one would make something for free, it means someone's selling them - just not to us, and that's just stupid.

There are very few things that one cannot buy, though some are easier to come by than others. Need some replacement MRI machine magnets? https://www.dextermag.com/products/magnetic-assemblies/mri-nmr/

Not things anyone would generally think of buying, I'll admit, but that's sort of the point here - if someone makes it, someone sells it. But clearly that's not the case in Elite.
There are so many items out there that have no other source than scavenging, murdering or receiving as a mission award.
