Modular Terminals

Someone somewhere said that Modular Terminals, required to unlock Marco Gwent, don't require cargo racks, thus being untradable. However I just had to install cargo racks to be able to hold them.

Since you can't buy modular terminals at any station or settlement in any system and they are "only given as passenger mission rewards;" and they do infact require a cargo rack, are they valuable as player to player trade, since there are alot of people who won't want to grind passenger missions?

I've seen people offering to give away the surplus after unlocking Marco.
But "player to player trade" isn't really a thing in Elite.

In any case, whoever told you they don't require cargo racks was lying.
It is also a good place to mention that as they are cargo, you better secure your Sirius permit BEFORE grinding missions for MTs, unless you want to do those missions with the cargo hold full of goodies that attract pirates like flies. :)

I dropped a bunch of explore data into procyon prior to collecting the terminals. Permit locked

I just did the modular terminal thing last night. Took 2 missions to get more than i needed. 1 was an assassination mission, the other was a data delivery.
Just a heads up, doesnt necessarily need to be pax missions.

I haven't been able to find them outside of pax

This is not true. The commodity can come additionally to mission reward. You need high reputation with factions to make them provide such missions though.

I'm not a trader. So I see no reasons to exchange commodities with players. As a reward I'm choosing mats. Except probably one case when you want to seat near station which sells rare comodities which required to unlock engineer and drop them near the station to help newbies.

OP, I thought Marco one of the easier ones to get?

You have to be allied with the Sirius Corp to get the Sirius Permit, by which time you get chunky MT missions extruding from your ears....as I dimly recall, mind you.

If I played in open I'd drop every MT I could find to someone who needed it. Same with meta alloys.
