Module Conversion strategy

Just a suggestion from my own experience:

Since many players conceive the need to convert all of their stuff as being extremely grindy, here's a suggestion from what seems to be working best for myself, making use of the most important new features, like persistent special effects and remote workshop:

- Visit your engineers and simply convert your stuff. Stick with grade 4 for now. This costs nothing.
- Apply your preferred special effects.
- Pin your most used blueprint. More often than not we use only a single one, anyway (i.e. long range FSD, dirty drives, etc.)
- Leave the g5 rolls for later, as you don't have to come back to do them.

This way I could readily improve most of my modules very quickly, surpassing most of the old rolls even at g4 thanks to special effect bonuses. Luckily most special effects are relatively cheap on mats, requiring mostly medium or low level mats, which can easily be obtained in large quantities from mat traders. And thanks to specials being persistent, I can do the g5 fine tuning whenever I have some high tier mats to spare, thanks to remote workshop.

Have fun.

I am using inara new crafting lists to enter what I need to convert and upgrade all my modules. When I have enough to do an engineer, I will do that one by transferring all the modules and do it in one shot.

The new pages on inara are brilliant at simplifying material trading

But you still have to take your modules (all of them!) to the engineer to get the special effect applied...

They way I'm doing it is:

All of the FSDs first, store all the FSDs from your ships, travel to the engineer in a ship that can fit the largest FSD module, transfer all of the other FSDs to the engineer (Felicity or Elvira in this case), mod all of the FSDs and apply desired special effect as needed.

Second. Mod all of the Power Plants, same method as above so that the modded modules will have sufficient power to run.

Third. Repeat process for PDs, Thrusters and Shield Gens.

Forth. Group Life Support, Sensors and Bulkheads by size and/or ship type and mod in groups where possible.

Fifth. Mod weapons by type (laser etc) at their respective engineers.

Sixth. Mod all of the ancillary items like DSS, limpet collectors, heat sinks etc together at their respective engineers.

This should minimise the amount of running around but does make it very grindy

Working on my main account first, then I'll do my alt account...

I found an anarchy system in famine with a Distribution Centre yesterday, this killed two birds with one stone so to speak. I shot the T9s for the materials and while I was waiting for the limpets to gather everything up, I scanned the high wakes for DWEs :p which worked very well... 145 chemical manipulators and 50 DWEs later... I didn't even need to relog as the T9s respawn after a few minutes! Very quick and efficient material gathering! Finding such a system is hard though. I went back yesterday afternoon in my alt account and while the system was still in Famine, the distribution centre had gone [knocked out]

So it's back to Dav's Hope I guess... Are the Naptha Tankers any better for material gathering? How do I find their current locations?

Good advice.

Just gonna wait till they fix the remote workshop to allow conversion.

That would be very handy.
