Module Malfunctioned... All Stop?

Got a 'module malfunction' message whilst engaged in some pew-pew and my ship froze. No drift, no spin, no motion at all. Just came to a dead stop and, well, hung there immobile. Surely some mistake?

Well it happened twice before I could escape so it was a malfunction and not a 'blown to bits' type scenario. But what I don't understand is why I came to an instant stop. Just locked in place and neither moving in any direction as a result of inertia or able to move in any direction with engines or small thrusters. I can absolutely understand losing power to engines but there's still going to be the whole 'dead and drifting' thing. You're not going to just... stop.

Because you have no thrusters and space in ED is like treacle (for flight model/gameplay reasons).

Could you get your thrusters blown up while you have fa off and see what happens? :)

For realisms sake you should be left with the exact vector of movement that you had when the thrusters went "poof". Tumbling through space for all eternity. ;-)

If the thrusters blow up, you keep on flying for a bit until you stop after a while.

I've blown some adder thrusters twice , and he keept spinning for a bit without control, then stopped.

If you stopped instantly, it's a bug.

If you stopped after a few sec/couple min. It's working fine.

Just like every space game, there is some kind of atrition that slows down every ship.
