Module Reinforcement Packages and your canopy.

Hi All,

Just a quick question. Does the MRP absorb any of the damage that gets applied to your canopy?

I love the ASP nad Keelback ships but that bubble canopy is a big glass jaw. If the MRP absorbs some of the damage I might think about swapping some HRP with MRP to sto it being blasted too quickly.

Yes, the MRP protection is applied to the canopy. I will try to find the Dev quote.

However, note that some hull damage bleeds across to the canopy. Hence canopies uniquely suffer two types of damage: direct hits, and bleed across.

A final point you might wish to note is that the canopy can be continually repaired (until ammo is exhausted) by an AFM, whenever it starts taking damage.

EDIT: Found it! Note that not only do the MRP's protect the canopy, but as if with drives they confer the full protection given to an internal module, not the half protection given to an external module.

Hello Commander Truesilver!

Thrusters (drives) are indeed treated as internal modules with regards to module reinforcement (so is the cockpit canopy, though it can occasionally receive damage directly from hull hits).

In general, thrusters are very large, often receiving the lion's share of hits from an enemy on your six. Because losing drives is such a major blow, we think it makes sense to allow module reinforcement packs to protect them (you could also argue that the inner workings of the drive system would be internal anyway).

Hardpoints and utility mounts are considered external.
