Ship Builds & Load Outs module will exceed maximum mass

what does this mean? I just bought a type 6 transporter and when I tried to go thruster shopping, it constantly says module will exceed maximum mass. how do I shop for thrusters then? aren't they supposed to make the maximum mass higher?

help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I think what it really means is the the thruster module chosen is incapable of moving your ship, try this link to Coriolis ship builder

The type 6 uses class 4 thrusters grade E to A only in the class 4 slot, some ships can use lower class thrusters the Eagle for example can use some of the class 2 thrusters in its class 3 slot.

edit you need to make sure the station stocks the same or better components before you change things as you can fit very small FSD's with 2 - 3 LY range and end up stuck in that system or too small a power plant and modules will shut down when weapons are deployed.
