Modules for role specific ships

This was mentioned in another thread about making single role ships more attractive. And I thought it'd deserve its own thread.

Traders:
Trader ships like the T6, T7, and T9 would get C, B, and A rating cargo racks with more capacity.

Rating ERating CRating BRating A
Class 12T3T--
Class 24T6T--
Class 38T11T--
Class 416T20T22T24T
Class 532T40T44T48T
Class 664T-80T96T
Class 7128T--180T
Class 8256T--384T

Explorers:
Explorer specific ships like the Asp Explorer and Diamondback Explorer could get better scanners.
For example a 2A Advanced Discovery\Detailed surface scanner suite.
Or if an added slot isn't a possibility then:
Diandback Explorer: 1B Detailed Surface Scanner - +30% scan range and a -15% scan time (1 Ton).
Asp Explorer: 1A Detailed surface Scanner - +50% scan range and a -30% scan time (1ton)

Passenger ships:
The Dolphin, Orca, and Belugas already get the B rating Lurxury cabins.

Others are welcome to add roles\ships.

Or they could bring back FFE's shipyard where you had a hull and internal space, you fitted it dependent on your preference so you could have what you wanted. All in all it meant that you never knew what you was attacking and how dangerous it was

Haven't you noticed that cargo comes in a standard size container, i.e. a ton of gold occupies (in its container) the same volume as a ton of hydrogen, so how do you propose the extra volume of for example a class 8a (an extra 128 containers), is squeezed in to the same space as a class 8e?

Indeed it would be a good idea to have better cargo rack class for trading ships.

Better cargo rack class for trading ships.
(+25% per T but add 1T per class ? class 8 8T ?)
8E 256T 8C 320T
7E 128T 7C 160T
6E 64T 6C 80T
5E 32T 5C 40T
4E 16T 4C 20T
3E 8T 3C 10T
2E 4T 2C 5T
1E 2T 1C 2T

Dedicated cargo rack too for trading ship
There should be a dedicated cargo rack too for trading ship (T9 class 8, T7 class 6, T6 class 5) like we have for military ships with military compartment.

This would make trading more interesting to use :
T9 950T without shield ((1.25*504)+320)
T7 460T without shield ((1.25*304)+80
T6 180T without shield ((1.25*112)+40)

Insurrance for your cargo
Like i wrote here you could buy different module commodities protection for a fixed price that you would loose if you got destroyed.

You could as well mix that with a small percentage on your trader profits. For example 1% at start.

Each time you got blown up your insurance increase by 0.1%.

After a long period without blowing up your ship your insurance would decrease.

This would drastically make trading ship more interesting !

Multiples cargo rack class is useless has they have no detrimental effects other than price in my opinion.

Why having 4 class cargo rack ?! And some of them are restricted to certains size ?! All modules in game are present in all range of level and class.

I don't understand why you made my ideas even more complicated.

1) It's silly and makes no sense anyway. That is a ridiculous system and should just get rid of the Tonnage and make it "containers" since it seems to be more an issue of space than weight. But then that would change FSD jumps. So I reiterate it's nonsensical as it is, so it's pointless to attempt logic.
2) That said, do you really think a Grade 8 Cargo rack has the same dimensions as a Grade 8 AMFU, or a Grade 8 Shield generator? And do you think all ships with a Grade 8 slot has the same dimensions to allow such a slot? It's more likely the Grade 8 slot in specific ships are a generality with assorted adapters to make the modules fit correctly into the slot. Otherwise it makes no sense. Kinda like a standard container that equalizes volume and weight of every commodity... The Rating C, B and A racks are designed less for any general Class 8 slot and more for the module slotting of cargo vessels. They require fewer adapters and fit more exactly into the slots, allowing for more space for more magical containers.

Go to that thread and look 5 posts before yours. I'll await your apology...

Your post was so badly presented that no one nocited it.

Not the case for mine though.

Your idea is a bit too complicated for nothing. Mine is really simple.

The thing is i didn't even read your post as the idea was really badly presented after a quick overview. But in fact having trader ship with more cargo is a thing that was requested over and over again. So it's not new as an idea.

FDev seems not to listen to anything. The 4 big ships are still better at trading than dedicated trading ships... And don't tell it's because otherwise people would earn too much money...

I would not mind that, at least to some degree.

- If i can only fit a S2 vehicle hangar in a S3 slot that remaining 1 point space should be able to boost another area.
- It's like fitting a wall in a room and I must make a box of unused space because that emty space CANNOT be used for another room for some mysterious reason.

1) I never claimed to invent the idea of more cargo for trader ships.
2) You claimed I stole your idea so the "it's not new as an idea" is funny.
3) Eh, I thought about only one Rating down the line, but I liked the idea of different tiers for the better ships. I put it in a discussion forum to hear other ideas.
4) I'm sorry you didn't like my presentation in the other thread. And congratulations on your presentation in that thread.
