Modules that shouldn't be upgraded

Upgrading to D is always worth it, for the weight savings. Whether you want to upgrade further than that depends on what you want to do - not much point in upgrading to big, heavy power distributors if you're only going to run cargo, for example.

I do have a hard time understanding some upgrades, though. Why do I want a higher class refinery, for example? There's nothing to indicate if it's better in any way than the lower class one with more bins...

It's always a compromise. I'm building my Asp as a mutirole, which means top of the line power and FSD are a must for both civilian and military applications.

This is not entirely true. Better sensors increase gimbaled weapon accuracy and re-lock delay is reduced after chaff.

I find better range favorable, in particular when I'm kiting larger ships. But aside from the range, better KWS scans faster. This helps against more maneuverable opponents.

I have never seen this, personally. Some hard video proof would be fantastic.

i don't think more expensive KWSs are faster, but the extra range means you can start a scan while moving into weapon range, so it saves a bit of time, and time is money in this game.

As others have stated it's all about what you want to do, be an explorer? Throw out everything and make your fsd, ADS and DSS installed.

The Asp gets very expensive when you start fitting rank A gear into it. My re-buy is almost 1.3 million now...

I believe there to be a BUG if you can not get back your jump range if you happen to fit a smaller class then go back agaon.Item Class is confusing when you have another title above it "Rating Class" written one on top of the other. This gives you the impression there are 3 titles, 2 of them titled Class. That's how to get it wrongly matched but should recover after returning to original setup.

Can you actually post some numbers here, or even the ship you're talking about to begin with? You installed a bicycle assist motor into a truck and it didn't go very far, that's all we know so far. Unless you're content with just screaming Bug bug bug and don't actually want to resolve the issue.

That sounds like a scene from Big, "You just don't come into a sales meeting and shout the word 'BUG'. It just doesn't happen".

Now I am thinking of Sir Mixalot and "I like big Bugs and I cannot lie".

Too much turkey over here.

Guess FD didn't program for stupidity... ... it even tells you what your new jump range will be, perhaps I dialogue should pop up asking if you are serious, when you try and put in a lower class of FSD. Elite: Handholding
