Möbius friends defected to the dark side...

I was tootling around the now practically deserted Möbius Teamspeak for the past couple of days. Where were my friends? Friends whom I'd joined in various pursuits almost to triple elite status.

I got a message by the in game chat system.
"ooright Grax"
"Had haven't seen u around much," I replied.
"Yeah, I won't be in the möbius room again."
"What happened?"
"I joined SDC"
He and two of our buddies had defected from Möbius to SDC three days earlier.
Apparently, he "wasted" 20 commanders the previous day and seemed once more excited and energetic about Elite dangerous. He'd recently gone a bit lethargic and had been at a loss for things to keep him interested.

He proclaimed that "This is what Elite dangerous should be about"
I wasn't sure what he meant. He continued, "I've had so much fun at Shinrarts Dezrha blowing up elite pilots on route to the station. It's been a blast..."
Well, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

All I know is my three wing mates have gone and it's not nearly as much fun playing alone...

Oh, another one of these threads. :|

If your friends have gone rogue, just waste them and find new ones.
Or join the Open. We're friendly and with all SDC guys busy wrecking Mobius, it's much safer ;)

If you avoid starting areas and CGs, you will only meet nice commanders.

We bring new hope in to desperate commanders who never really played the game until they joined our teamspeak! How can you call us the dark side? You're in a group that isolate it's members from the REAL game, you're evil not SDC.

I've stopped playing in Mobius so much as I used to.

But in my case, I'm just playing in Solo. The latest incursion has hurt my ability to trust the intentions of people I might see in Mobius, thus, I now avoid players altogether in Solo.

At least, for me, this isn't much an issue. But some people like the social side of this game.

players don't defect from Mobius simply because we are a none exclusive group, we have stated from the start that players are free to join any other group.
as stated on our group thread page.

"Feel free to drop in and out of this group and join other groups when the game play suits you"

90% Open player...have yet to see a SDC fella...had some fun with Code pilots a way back...taunting them while i took the looooooooooong way to a station after they interdicted me and I escaped. Quite the humorous encounter, there are some real comedians in those ranks.

However, as I spend most of my time in the deep blue of the Empire, I rarely find openly hostile commanders. Of the commanders I have talked to around control systems and various CGs, several have winged up with me to trade, bounty hunt, or need escort. These encounters usually just end up in a conversation about where we come from IRL and adds another CMDR to my friends list (though I'll probably never fly with them again).

Anyway, there certainly is a lot of thrills to be had going for a pure PK play style (PvP is an honorable match that doesn't deserve the distillation that PKing presents). Though, I imagine it gets old fairly quickly. Folks who post speaking for Code, SDC or whomever don't seem to stick around that along (besides a couple of blood thirsty exceptions).

Welp, I'm sorry you lost your mates to an activity you do not wish to take part in...patience though, they might come back.

Another one of these threads? Can you quote another? What are you implying, that I am complaining? They are finally enjoying the game they purchased. Im in half a mind to follow them, but I live my commander by RP, so I probably won't.

Then have fun playing your REAL game over there, while I do my stuff over here.

Isn't this the wonderful thing about ED groups and modes?

People can chop and change as their desires lead them. Someone bored with PvE can go get involved with a PvP group. People who prefer PvP but want to get away from it for a while can go play in group or solo, maybe even turn to the dark... erm... light... grey side completely.

As long as people don't get confused and do the wrong things in the wrong modes, everyone can be happy. Yay!

I know who it is! I was messing around with him last night testing PvP loadouts at Founder's last night and he was giggling during test fights. Safe to say he's having more fun in the game than he's ever had before!

Everyone knows the dark side has everything better ;)

^ this ^

if you don't like the group, just leave and find what style you like and play it.

so easy a caveman can do it. :p

thats one way to see it , the dark side is mobuis in my opinion lol. as you pointed out in op , dark and empty.

The same ToS applies to every mode equally, ie. there are no specific rules for specific modes

Indeed. But if you take my analogy from the other day, where i talked about a group for sidewinder only PvP, and someone going into that group in a Corvette and spanking those flying sidewinders, its not against the ToS, but its still a jerk move.

I'd like to think we don't have players who would invade a group designed for Sidewinder PvP to kill them in a much more powerful ship, but unfortunately, that's not the case.

Well, if attacking players that are ill prepared and present no challenge is what they think this game is about, I feel kinda sorry for them. Each to his own, I guess. At least they left Mobius rather than breaking the rules they agreed to when they joined.
