MoM? Seriously?

Please, no Vipers in CZs with prismatic. I've no idea what's their deal, but Viper AI seems to be a bit different. They all just keep boosting in circles around you, making killing them just so tedious.

I personally like the idea of npcs with engineered weapons. I lost one ship through sheer arrogance/stupidity in using a ship with 30% hull and full shields against a Python. Easy enough normally, but I got a serious shock when 3 phasing burst lasers hit me. Knowing that can happen makes the game more interesting. Made sure I wasn't so lazy with my piloting after that as well.

Than why even bothering doing a progress? If i have the same experience with E-class shields than with prismatics, than why even doing the job? :rolleyes

This is what i'm talking about!!!

The problem is not, that the shields are strong. It's the fact, that they are imperial shields.
Next time we see a Cutter fighting for a federal faction

IMO imperials factions should use imperial assets, federal ones federal assets, independent one the whole bunch of other stuff.

I have an iCutter, iClipper, Corvette and no faction. Originally I made the Empire my home, but later moved to the Federation for convenient access to locations within the bubble.

I built up rank in the Empire as well as the Federation to earn those ships - they're a point of pride and a CMDR should be able to fly whatever ship he wants, no matter his faction.

In fact, the ultimate insult would be to use a Corvette to blast Feds or an iCutter to melt Imperials.

Ultimately, pirates pirate. They steal things. Sometimes fast and easy, sometimes by deceiving others into believing they're loyal to a faction for their own personal gain...

As for salvaging items from ships other than engineering mats, I personally would love that. Or even salvaging a hull - it might take time and money to rebuild, but imagine the pride in taking a wrecked ship and bringing it back to full glory?

But I digress...

I don't think randomly buffing regular shields on NPC ships would make any sense. Everything NPC ships use can be obtained and used by players.

If the argument is why are pirates using tech from a specific power, the answer is simple: They're pirates. There's a significant and active black market pretense in the galaxy. People are able to pledge to a power, buy modules and throw them in storage, then abandon that power. Logistically and rationally, it wouldn't take much at all for certain tech to end up on the black market and in the hands of pirates, whether they get them from the black market directly or salvage them off other vessels.

There are a lot of possible explanations for it.

Alliance Military in CZs using Federal Corvettes, caustic missiles and Pythons with Prismatics is a bit...weird. But I like it!

I would fully endorse Illegal Modules. We already have a “hot module” flag, so “Illegal” wouldn’t be any different. “Illegal Modules” purchased from Black Market contacts, available after a certain value of goods sold would be a great foundation for a Criminal Career path.

ATR use prismatics, why not all other high end killers?

It is regular CZ ships that sport them now

The Officers, and Spec ops sure they can have the toys but did seem odd for a Python flying for an independent faction to have a Prismatic Shield.

Given it is a System Defense Force ship probably owned by the faction, not an independent Cmdr who could moonlight for HIH Aisling, how do they get it on their standard outfitting when they aren't even near Aisling controlled space.

I am all for NPCs getting more toys and variety but more hope to see it along Lore friendly lines of Imperials using Imperial stuff, Alliance Alliance stuff etc and Spec ops using Tech broker toys etc
