Money-Making Question!

In your situation, I'd sell the keelback and buy a Vulture for bounty hunting, a Cobra 3 for everything else, then make some money, then rebuy your keelback later.

When I got ELITE I started grinding cargo, I am a hard grinder using Red Bull and 12-hour sessions. I soon had a Type-9 and was making good rate but although I ground for Months i still had only 160 million plus my T-9, (No Sothis runs).

So if an Elite grinder like me takes so much time to earn that much how long will it take a post-2.2 newbie to grind a 500 Million cr ship like a Conda and enough money to payout 24 million every time he loses it? I haven't played since 2.2 I simply don't have enough time to put that much into a game.

Easiest and fastest way is a skimmer missions, imo. The worst part is? First you have to find "that" system where they give those missions. But otherwise 4-9mil for a mission x20 mission? Simple math. In the worst case scenario it's 80mil. Easy money.

Ok, I read your story and tried to give you +rep...but I must have already given you some elsewhere.

I love your attitude...not to get rich quick.
The secret, I'm sure you've realised is to have fun.

Pick something.
Pick anything, and do that and the credits will come.

Get bored, try something else, have a play, the credits will come.
Focus on trying different things...not the credits...and they will come.

I have two accounts, my second account is a fully kitted Cobra III and has 50m credits.
I use this account to do community goals.

I have invested no more than 50 hours on this account and I'm no ace by any stretch of anyone's imagination!

It's about having fun and not giving a flying "you know what" if I get killed.

There are credits to be earned everywhere in this game.

Pick anything.
Play smart.
Don't focus on the credits, or the next ship.

If you follow my advice you will experience minimal grind and maximum enjoyment from this game.

I'm loving it.
(And no, I'm not one of those billionaires with 50 ships)

Your goal is credits and/or an end goal like a cutter or anaconda.

The goal should be to have some fun, surely!

This game is so diverse and there's so much you could do, to limit it to one dimension is a waste.

Hello OP,

just want to point you to this thread for more inspiration for what to do with a limited budget:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ts-to-enjoy-core-aspects-of-the-game-post-2-1

As of the 2.2 update mines are not as effective as they used to be, so in the listed configurations you could get rid of the mine launchers.

Also not included in the mentioned post is my new favorite Cobra MK III Millenium Falcon build that can transport lucrative passengers fast, together with limited amounts of delicate cargo:

So, quick update;

Am running Rare trades on the Laves loop that Jetson suggested. Seems to be goin well at the moment. Laves to Witchhaul was around 1-1.5mill alone.

I'm using the ASP Explorer, it's a very nice ship. Have a 5 (I think it's a 5?) B class FSD. Gives me 20something jump range, which is nice.

Next step is to optimise a loadout for the run, so I don't have to attempt this fuel scooping thing and end up overheating or coming in too close to a star trying. I just can't figure the damn thing out. Once I figure out the maximum cargo space needed for an entire loop, I'll get rid of some of my cargo space for fuel tanks, hopefully I will then have enough to jump between stations that are further away (witchhaul being close too 200Ly away).

Thanks again everyone! Am finally back on track!

Commander, out.

Also a good thread regarding Rares that you might find useful - with a map on from the Count - have a look at this: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...ding-Metro-Map

Absolutely this.

There will be some walls, and some lean patches. Then you'll come back to the game after a break and just do things that you think you'd enjoy doing. And without knowing it, the credits just kind of tick over. Try not too look too far ahead - I daren't look at what some of the ships cost, but it is fairly well balanced so if you keep just having fun, you'll find yourself able to keep buying new things every once in a while.

Making credits and playing with new ships is fun.

Pick something.
I pick: Flying a 'conda.

Wait. Can't do that. No money.

Your goal is credits and/or an end goal like a cutter or anaconda.

I think earning a 'conda would be fun.

This game is so diverse and there's so much you could do, to limit it to one dimension is a waste.
Fly around.
Fly around with things in cargo (and getting shot at).
Fly around adding things to cargo (and getting shot at).
Fly to places to shoot things.

Did I miss anything?

Take a hit on Cargo and fit the biggest fuel scoop you can shoe-horn in, keep the standard fuel tank. IMO it is better to scoop for 5 seconds each star than to haul around extra fuel mass. Fuel is heavy. All the large fuel-scoops mass the same.
