Money & Phyton.

That's where mine is at now, and it does just fine in RES and CZ. The only downside is that it overheats easily when firing beam lasers - I'm looking forward to having the extra cash to bump up the power plant to B or A.

Guees burst or pulse lasers are a better choice without overheating em too fast?

I'm currently compromising at beams in the top two C3 slots, pulse in the C2 slots, and a cannon beneath. It gets most of the way through an Anaconda's shields before needing a recharge, then can manage shorter bursts interspersed with cannon shots to take down the PP.

It now only overheats when I try to do too much, like popping a shield cell while firing. When I had quad beams it would do so after firing for a few seconds.

I have been using mine in RES zones after upgrading the weapons and it has done fine.. I have had the shields down a few time but nothing really to worry about...

I pretty much grind a couple of million then upgrade.

how about the hardpoints in terms of cokpit view? Is it a bit harder to adjust the aim? For me the Viper does probably really good with that.

The python is fairly thin in terms of height, so the hardpoint below is really easy to use in general. If it had better turning it would even be able to use fixed due to how good its hardpoint placement is.

If you are used to the viper, the python is a breeze. It won't be until you decide to use a FDL that you will have to raise your nose again.

Buy it when you can afford it plus 3X insurance. Then spend 1X insurance on upgrades and go fight. I just did that, but want to rank up my trading first. Coming from a clipper, I will say it is not that fun to fly, but does other things very well.

I bought mine with just enough cash to put in some basic pulse lasers, upgrade the power plant, FSD and thrusters slightly, and still have enough for insurance. Then I went to town and started gunning bounties and checking the BB for 'kill X pirates' types missions, or the occasional lucrative 'haul all this gold to X and we'll throw money at you' mission.

This was a while back, so I don't recall the numbers involved. I basically turned in bounties until I had enough to upgrade something, then bounced to a station to pick up whatever I was after that time around, then headed back out again. I also jumped into several of the Community Goals missions and used them to help bankroll the upgrades.

Yes, it took a bit, but I had fun doing it, and I'm only short 2 or 3 modules to have everything kitted out.

If you are only interested in combat and coming from a viper I would get a vulture as a stop gap to python. Dont be put off by only two hard points.

Descent pve only need about 10 mill. Rebuy 500k credits. If you res alot when you first get a python you will hit an asteroid at some point as it is no where as manoeuvrable as viper or vulture. On a limited budget 3-4 mill rebuy is steep as you are likely to have to either go back to viper to gets funds or sell if you do not have another ship or enough for another ins.
