Money Talk

I've got a few ideas for money. Normally I'm not big on money systems because they are so unrealistic and the guests are always stingy about spending it. I'd just like other ways of making money, and not 50 cents at a time! In most past Sim games, you would charge per ride with the option to charge for the entrance. Having an option for both is unrealistic. Personally I'd only like to see the free rides in the campaign, but I'm sure some people would like the pay to ride system so make it realistic. Outside of fairs, Knoebels is the only park I can think that has a free entrance so in the game I'd say 9/10 of the scenarios should be pay to enter and free rides.

So with that system, you can still make money but the flow is a little slower. How do you still get enough money to grow your park? Realistic prices.

-Meals ~$15
-Parking ~$18 (there doesn't need to be parking lots for this to work. Groups pay this fee as a whole)
-Snacks and drinks ~$6
-Souvenirs $10-$30
-On-ride pics ~$20
-Entrance Fees $40-$100 (depending on how many rides built)
-Upcharge Attractions ~$10-$30 (Go-Karts, Sling Shot)

The biggest thing is the guests need to be willing to pay the high prices, just like people do normally. The prices of course should be adjustable. Guests should still be willing to pay but depending on the charge, it will affect their happiness. Exceptions would apply though. No one is gonna buy your Souvenir hats if they are 45 bucks instead of 20. With prices like these, you will be making plenty of money.

Here is a little idea to go along with the next to things below: Guests are divided into 2 categories: Locals and Tourists. This would not change any appearances with the guests, only a simple 1 or the other stat. Any scenarios with just a few rides would be populated mostly by locals, while larger ones would have a mixture of the 2. Tourist spawn with more money and are more likely to by souvenirs and on-ride pics.

That brings me to the Season Pass. If you can afford to build a season pass processing stall, local guests will pay more money to enter the park. After building one, the local guests will start randomly spawning with a pass and not have to pay when they enter. These would only be for Locals.

Advertising is also important to the gameplay. When you build new rides, no advertising should be needed for more locals to show up. They are local. They know that your park has new rides. Word of mouth and such. If however you choose to pay for advertisements, it attracts even more guests. Most of them tourists; in return, you get more of the guests paying more money for souvenirs and expensive food.

Anyways that's really all I got. These are just ideas. Would they be good for the game? IDK but some of it seems reasonable.

PS free restrooms and maps. No exceptions!

[up] I agree

they should have "park mode" with just entrance fee, shop fee, and maybe specific rides can have a fee. And then there could be a "fairground" or "carnival" mode or something where you are not allowed to charge for entrance, but you can charge per ride. I also think it would be interesting if their was a ticket booth where guests could buy X # of tickets and each ride has a set limit, but I'm sure most people wouldn't see that as necessary [blah] lol I would even like to see fairgrounds have "open land" with no fence and guests can walk in from anyside and not require paths (as an option of course)....

as far as guests "wanting" to pay, that is all based on how much they are enjoying themselves

Your title is a little confusing, maybe edit it to "Realistic Money System"?

IMO we could have an even deeper aspect to this.
Instead of just revenue from food places, you have the cost of the food, shop maintenance, running costs, etc, then you need the price of the food to be larger than this to create a profit. You could then have higher quality food and therefore increase the prices, making it more desirable for richer peeps.
