Money to be Made in Trading ?

I believe the game mechanics simply consider anything picked up at station A and dropped at station B that results in +Cr to be trade progress. Since passenger sightseeing missions from station A return to station A to complete, there is no +Cr from any other station so no "trade" progress, however since scanning a beacon is required, the +Cr difference is considered to be exploration.

You could get Elite Explorer and Elite Trader without ever going to any other systems besides Ceos and Sothis. Imagine Lewis and Clark only went to the local creek 3500 times, or Sir Edmund Hillary didn't actually climb Everest, but he climbed a total of the same distance by walking from his outhouse to his back door every day.

With any luck mining is very profitable. Even the "junkiest" metals go for 2000t. Would you trade for 2000 credit/ton profit?
Not only is everything a profit sometimes you can find a mission and multiply your margins.

Exactly why I do it.

There's also state dependent trading. Basic medicines in outbreak systems can be very valuable.

Any food commodity will sell well at a famine.

EDIT: If I recall correctly, metals such as Titanium sell well in wars. There's a lot of common sense that can be applied to state dependent trading.

Not sure what you mean ? Seams to go together perfectly for me. The lighter I am the farther I can jump. And its more of a challenge.

:D The Cutter is anything but stealthy. It's huge, it's flashy, and it tends to run quite warm. Better off using its massive thrusters to outrun anything that tries to chase you, in my view.

Also it tends to get stuck under lightposts and things, so going without shields/docking computer installed is *really* rolling the dice....

See, that just says to me to avoid them to be on the safe side, unless you like smuggling (especially in a type 9).

Well, if it's any inspiration, I made it to Trade Elite without trading in slaves at all (the one exception being the Uibuth CG to free said slaves). :)
