Moneymaking for developers

In order to generate more cash flow and thus be able to create all the dlc’s the community desires (planetary diversity, atmospheric landings and so on), there should maybe be thought of new ways to earn some cash? Bobbleheads and paint jobs are all well and good, but there are lots of possibilities.

As a new commander, one of the biggest acheivements for me was to finally find my first completely undiscovered system, and scan the outta that thing. Both system name, ship name and livery options are stored in log files. It would thus be a very small scripting job to give players the option to buy an actual printed poster with a selection of photos of the ship in foreground/background (maybe even customizable with a very simple online editor), and of course with commander name, ship ID, date and time and so on in various overlays and styles. Lots of customization options. Select system view. Select info to show. Select style. Select size. Print and ship. Gimmicky? Yes. Would I pay to have a high res photo quality print of my very first discovered system on the wall? Also yes.

It need not stop there. 3D printing of ships, either with full color paint jobs or as paint kits for players to colorize as they see fit. 3d printed full system of own choosing (must be explored by player)? Why not? Print my first [cool.event.thing] on tshirts? The sky’s the limit here.

Oh look, another thread telling F.Dev how to make money.

F.Dev are doing fine, money wise, they don't need help. That being said, this isn't such a bad idea, in a high concept sort of way, posters and custom 3D printed models could be nice. However I don't think it would be worth it, setting up and managing the supply chain seems like more trouble than its worth.

My two cents.

I am assuming that since Frontier have a forum sub called "Suggestions and feature requests" they are looking for suggestions and requests for features. I might of course be wrong.

There's lots of places that can print hi res glossy posters.

Take a hi-res screen shot (Alt F10) in solo.

Upload to a site like VistaPrint:
https://www.vistaprint.co.uk/signs-...+Page_undefined_primary-left-navigation_5_640

and select your options.

Get a mug/tee-shirt etc of it as well while you're at it.

Yeah of course, but then you'll have to do all the "work" yourself! Open image in Photoshop, add some text, spend two hours trying to make it look not completely , call your photoshop guru friend, fiddle some more and end up with a below par result. My thought was more something like login to Frontier, menu selection whatever, either upload image or have a set to choose from (naturally from your first discoveries) - then select header, style, frames, logos (DW1/2, wing logos, whatever", what to display - print preferences - purchase. I can't imagine that would be very hard to set up. And if they are indeed doing very well money wise, they should perhaps create header/frame templates and hand out for free?

Yeah. That's what we see.
Not how it looks like for them :)

And the suggestions are debated to help gauge interest and feasibility. No need to get all salty because people disagree with you.
