Monitor advice needed

I'm considering a new monitor to boost my home office/gaming experience. I play mainly ED and rocket league, which annoyingly have totally different requirements. My ideal would be a 144HZ 1440p gsync compatible, but I'm not sure that's possible, or worth it, within my sub £300 budget. Can anyone help me with potential trade offs between the higher resolution and faster refresh rate? Is 1440p worth it for Elite, do you notice much difference? In terms of GPU, I have an RTX 2060 Super if that makes any difference.

I have a 34" Dell and love it. But it's only 60 Hz

My dream is to get an LG 38" G-Sync, but thay are not available again.

The 34" Alienware should also be a nice option.

I'm sold on 34 or 38" and I want the higher refresh rate, preferably 144Hz or better optimal recommended.

YMMV

And they ain't cheap.

Yes and Yes (actually an incredible improvement over 1080).

(Unless you do a lot of pvp first-person shooters then you needn't worry about going for 144Hz or gsync really, I play on a 5 year old 60Hz BenQ 2765 and never get tearing or similar in Elite.)

Standard 16:9 aspect ratio displays can be found within that budget at 2560*1440 at 144Hz, but high refresh rate ultrawides (21:9, 3440*1440) not so much. Should be able to find an explicitly G-Sync Compatable display within budget as well, but any modern Freesync display should work perfectly fine with G-sync, even if not explicitly certified.

1440p is definitely worth it for Elite: Dangerous and if ED was the primary title, I'd probably recommend a budget 27-32" VA panel. A 27" IPS would be a better all-rounder...worse contrast, but better real-world response time and less overshoot ghosting. However, if want fast response at 27"+ you may need to go with a TN display to stay under 300GBP.

Went for one of these in the end:

1440p, is a definite step up. It's a VA panel, but I'm not noticing much ghosting, and pleasingly my GPU has no problem keeping up.

WIth your budget of 300 GBP GSync is the ultimate killer. 31,5" with 144 hz: Samsung C32JG54. No GSync but 276,56 € at the moment via amazon.de plus delivery to you. amazon.co.uk is GBP 423,00 atm.

Could be the best solution for you and your budget.

I'm currently using a 40" HD tv as a monitor (which is great). I'm thinking of upgrading to a 55" 4k tv (£350), but not sure my gtx1050ti could handle it.

Hmmm. Just tried a 4k and it drops to 19fps in RES sites. It still seems ok, but don't want to waste cash if it's going to get laggy. That being said, I didn't really notice much of a difference.

Thoughts?

Cheers.

What graphics card do you have? Mine runs fine with a GTX 1080.

4k with at least 60 fps should be no problem for 5700XT and 2070S or above.

Depends on specific settings and in-game location. Vanilla ultra, with no extra driver options or .xml edits will only dip below 60 fps at 4k in some icy RES sites and the most complex surface terrain on those parts.

I've got a gtx 1050ti atm. Don't really have £500 odd to buy a new card.

4k is way beyond reasonable for a 1050 Ti. That card is 1080p medium-high territory.

would someone mind posting a cockpit image from a 1440 screen? I, too, am looking to going to a 1440p ultrawide and I'd like to see what I get first :)
